The Least You Should Know About the Canadiens…  Standout defenseman PK Subban leads the team with 16 points in 17 games… Young forwards Brendan Gallagher and Alex Galchenyuk have been bright spots for Montreal with a combined 21 points thus far… Peter Budaj and Carey Price, who starts tonight, have a combined .933 SVP… Montreal sports the #3 power play unit in the NHL… Daniel Briere, Brandon Prust and Alexei Emelin are on injured reserve…

It’s Struggling Team vs. Struggling team in Montreal. Another night, another chance for the Islanders to right the ship on the road against a less than stellar opponent. Both the Islanders and Canadiens are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games. The Isles have now lost three in a row and for Montreal the skid is at four with zero wins in the month of November.

Kevin Poulin gets the start in net tonight in his hometown of Montreal, which is why Evgeni Nabokov went last night (the horror, how dare they save him for his hometown!). He grew up in Montreal and played junior hockey in the Q for Victoriaville two hours away. He’ll have a size-able cheering section tonight, to say the least.

It’s also a bit of a big night for another Islander, Brock Nelson as he will take Thomas Vanek’s spot on the top line alongside John Tavares and Kyle Okposo. Nelson’s bounced around lines this year and it’s a nice chance for him to show what he can do alongside the team’s hottest and most talented forwards. There’s been no word on how Vanek is doing other than that he is not playing tonight. The team says that he will be reevaluated when they return to Long Island tomorrow.

In other news, the Sound Tigers recalled Mike Dalhuisen from Stockton (ECHL) likely to be prepared for not having Aaron Ness for an extended period of time. Ness hasn’t looked to bad during the last two games, so maybe he stays around a bit longer.

Tonight’s Lineup:
Nelson-Tavares-Okposo MacDonald-Hamonic Poulin
Grabner-Nielsen-Bailey Hickey-Donovan Nabokov
Bouchard-Regin-McDonald Ness-Carkner
Boulton-Cizikas-Martin
Scratches: Vanek , Clutterbuck, Martinek        IR: Visnovsky, Strait
