and the point of this wonderful one-night-only coverage of an nhl gimmick is what, exactly?

Radio Hofstra is a metaphor for how far the Islanders have sunk.  I'm sure Chris King is a great guy, but that high pitched voice, that rises several octaves when he get exercised, is tough to listen to.  And Rob Joyce sounds like he belongs in a broadcast booth for a D3 school in North Dakota.  Neither is awful, and you can tell they're trying their best, but having someone in the booth a little more senior, with more courage to their conviction might make for a better listen.

Go get 'em, Kinger! A big, big potential audience with that 50,000 watt clear channel signal.

A sign of things to come.  Once this team is in Brooklyn, the radio deal will be a much better one, you  can bank on that.

One word: COOL!!!  I don't have to go online or XM Radio to listsen to the Isles' play by play.

I enjoy Chris King, he lets the play tell the story rather then makes himself part of the story like some of the bush leaguer anouncers like the clown who does the Pens games ("Mike Lange has just left te Bathroom!") and the unlistenable John Sterling.

Who's Rob Joyce? Was he on any of the Stanley Cup winning teams? Why not have Butch do the game on radio since NBC is doing the game on TV or have another Isles alumni do the game on radio?

What could possibly be the cost of having 880 do the rest of the games, not just Wednesday's game?  I'd be curious to know if anyone had some idea of the terms of the Devils' deal with WFAN, because its well known that they pay to get on air, so what is the per-season cost of that (I believe they have a multi-season deal)?

@Mike T. Exactly!  Most things will be much better in Brooklyn.  The radio situation for the last 5 years or so has been embarrassing.

@Ryan Sweeney@tag1 I think what is worse is having some kid from hofstra give his "expert" opinion on a NHL game.
