This slipped through our radar a bit in the chaos that has been the playoff push, but it was originally mentioned in Charles Wang’s interview with Chris Botta at the Sports Business Journal Conference earlier; the Barclays Center/Brooklyn Nets will take over business operations from the Islanders once they move to Brooklyn.
What this means for the team is that hockey operations will continue to run as usual with Garth Snow, the scouts, trainers and others continuing on once the team is in Brooklyn.
However, the staff on the business side of the enterprise will be integrated into Barclays’ operations. This means that the folks currently in marketing, sales and similar positions with the team may or may not make the move to Brooklyn with the team, depending on what Barclays Center decides. According to Nets Daily, “an official announcement is expected soon.”
