I don't usually send comments but the time has come. I need to express my frustration with this team. I have been a fan for over 30 years and I am tired of this team stinking. I am tired of them being a n afterthought in ny sports. Iam tired of false hopes. I am tired of top 5 picks. I am tired of being happy they played well for 40 minutes but then knowing the collapse is coming. I am tired of waiting for players to play to their potential. For example, bailey is very gifted but he doesn't play that way for 90% of the season. Get rid of him. And I'm tired of keeping players because they do one thing very well. For example, Grabner has speed but I have better hockey sense and skill than he does. Get rid of him. Maybe it's my frustration taking over or maybe I'm being dramatic, but I can't take all the negativity that comes with this team. I will continue to be a fan through thick and thin but my nerves are shot. Rather than giving you the long list of players to get rid of, let me say who we should keep; Tavares, okposo, hamonic, strome, Nelson, cizikas and Martin. Get rid of everyone else, bring up some more kids and start over with retooling. Chicago did it, why can't the islanders?

What the hell is going on? Strome could absolutely play tonight. Snow or Wang must have something personally against Strome. I wouldn't be surprised if come Phoenix he is a "healthy scratch". Play him for f$%#'s sake. This should've been his sophmore year already. This organization is a joke. They bring players like Nino up way before they are ready and then play them 5 minutes a game on the 4th line instead of developing him correctly and then they keep a player who clearly has been ready for at least a year away from the big club. This management has no clue. They need a real gm and owner.

Can Bettman put Wang and Snow on waivers?

The Islanders are probaly the only franchise in professinal sports where a ten game losing streak does'nt get someone fired (either the coach or GM or in the Islanders case hopefully both. Wang isn't going anywhere anytime soon so them best that we can hope for is that someone (Bettman,Ratner,Yormark) puts pressure on him to get a real GM and coach and run the team professionally before the move to Bklyn!

Dangle Vanek Garf..you dumbass....and get something in return before its too late.  There aint no way in hell he is gonna sign here.

NHL salary cap expected to rise, I guess that means the floor cap is also going up, Wang must of passed out when he heard that one.

Strome joining the team is not going to solve the problems we are having, ok he may get us an extra goal here and there so instead of loosing 5 to 2 yesterday we would have lost 5 to 3.  The real problem is the D, the goalies and the coaches, this team is not going anywhere unless those situations are addressed.  Bringing Strome up now may actually slow down his development, this is a loosing team right now and that will do nothing for his development except to learn how to loose on the big stage.

Cappy has to go...never ever uses a time out to settle the team down...ESP against wash when they scored the shorty in the last min...need a real coach..wish I wasn't an islander fan...

what it really make sense for the Islanders to wheel and deal right now? every team knows they're desperate  and there's a chance they get fleeced hahahhahahaaaaaa

Last year Snow's waiver wire team did work. From waivers we've had: Nabokov, Moulson, Grabner, Colin McDonald, Brian Strait, Keith Aucoin, Tom Hickey and Joe Finley. Some worked out better than others, but given the (lack of) budget, it could have been much worse.

What are they going to do next year when the cap floor goes up 6 mill???????

Heading to Brandon tonight to watch Ryan Pullock and the Wheat Kings. Former 1st round pick Dave Chysowskis' son is playing for the opposition Kamloops Blazers.

The fact that capuano hasn't been fired is downright atrocious. Season is over after 2 months. This really is an abusive relationship.

Nobody wanted to take PMB on their team as he clears waivers yet he was our main July 1st signing. Garth blew it.

Can we put Bailey on waivers?  He makes more than PMB and is just as useless and invisible.  He sucks.

Rumour has it, Zach Bogisian wants out of Winnipeg. The Jets are keen on Bailey and maybe a late pick.

Bummer....heading to the game tonight and would have been great to see him live.

Now comes the hard part for Snow,,, trying to trade Vanek for Gardiner and Phaneuf.  Rumor has it the Leafs are willing to part with both...

Barring that kind of move, Snow might be left finding takers for Hickey, Ness and MacDonald.  Then he can bring back Potvin, Langevin and Morrow.  That should cure the defense...

I feel you, lens! The Isles can't because their owner is stubborn, Their GM is on a strong leash, and coaching staff is incompetent. In other words, the people controlling this team do not have a priority to win, and if they do, then they are god awful at their jobs! I have supported each and every one of them, but sadly, until this regime is no longer, the most important day to fans is the draft, that's why they get more people there on draft day than on actual game nights!

Don22
Don22

@Oren Harsanyi Why don't you apply for the job?  You seem to know how to run an organization and bring players along.  What difference does it make if he plays tonight or on Thursday?  They have there reasons and my guess is they know a hell of a lot more about Strome than you do.  And you don't know anything about Nino either.  He played 10 -14 minutes a game when he played with the Isles and he produced jack.  I don't care if he was on a 4th line.  If he had any stones he would have fought through it and produced at least more than 1 point.  You are complaining that they brought Nino up way too early, yet you are complaining that Strome isn't playing quick enough and you even say this should be his sophomore year?

Wow - I don't think I've ever seen someone contradict himself in the same post before.

@snostorm

If in fact they do lose Vanek, and get zilch in return then the fans who continue to go to the home games should either begin a chant every play stoppage or burn the effing NVMC down, and try  to find out Snows address and picket outside his house night, and day until he makes a move beneficial to the team, with the blessing of most of the fans, otherwise he is either Wang's water boy, or just plain stupid with no clue at how to perform his job.

With snow there is a chance of getting fleeced 24/7 365 a year.

grand_puba

@ivo leggi I remember during one of the Isles/Sens game Howie mentioning the fans up there being disappointed with how he's progressed as well. Curious what the exact reasons are. From taking a look at his numbers nothing really sticks out like a sore thumb. Maybe that's the issue as he was a 9th overall and people are expecting something big? Still young too, 22 y/o

@tpjm Bailey must go, but will never be traded with a 3.25 million salary what an idiotic signing

Don22
Don22

PMB and Regin weren't FA signing with the intent to be impact players.  They were signed as insurance/place holders until the young guys are ready to make the club.  They were signed to be expendable and now we are starting to see it.  I am willing to bet that before long Regin will be waived too if someone else in the AHL is ready.

@Lyle Odelein No one is keen on Bailey and his absurd contract, I would trade him for nothing just to get rid of that contract.

At least if we were to get Phaneuf, Elisha Cuthbert comes in the package. The chance of bumping into her in the rotunda would be worth the price of admission.

TonyM

@red2

The leafs aren't going to trade Phaneuf and Gardiner for an unrestricted FA. Snow will be lucky to get a second round pick for him.

And I would'nt be surprised to see Moulson resign with Islanders for less money then he's making now!

Don22
Don22

If you think JT was upset they traded Moulson, imagine how he will feel if they got Phaneuf.  Personally, I wouldn't want him. He is a good offensive talent but I think he is a dirty player.  But I guess he is probably the type of guy you hate unless he is on your team.  BTW, he was just suspended again.

That will be Snow jobs legacy......

dkdk

@don22 .... To be fair, PMB was given first crack on JT's line and Regin was brought in to anchor the 3rd line. Neither was just a throw away signing, although many of our signings wind up that way (Reasoner, Carkner, Pandolfo, Eaton, Jurcina....)

Emil Rempel

Like Anders Lee who obviously has some awesome chemistry already with strome... Can't be any worse than grabner...

Derek Scheer

@Don22 If you sign a free agent to a million plus contract they have to have some ability, no one in the league wants him , that demonstrates Garth's inability to judge talent and there is no way to candy coat that. Snow must go !

Don22
Don22

@TonyM @red2 No way MM takes less than what he makes now.  Based on his last 3 season stats he will probably get at least 6 million.  I don't really think he is on par with some guys that are currently make that much, but people at times only look at the point production, not the entire package.

Unless he really loves the Isles that much, he's not giving out any discounts.

dkdk
dkdk

Chris r .... I don't think people are dying to trade him, we just realize from day 1 it would be a challenge to keep him and with the team looking the way it looks the prospects of him having a burning desire to stay is going down by the day.

kgkg
kgkg

@Chris R @red2 We never should have included the first rounder in that trade. But I agree that we should try to keep him because he IS one of the best players on this team. We also need to dump some dead weight and bring up a few of the kids.

The owner has to start spending some money on D now.

dus361
dus361

@Chris R @red2 I think we all want him but know that he will never sign with this team, so we should get something for him before the end of the season and he signs with someone else.

@shamwow..... That is funny!

@don .... Now I feel better about your prior point. Not a big long term commitment but we cannot afford to waste rosters spots each and every year on a couple of guys that should be in the AHL or banging around Europe. If not the wheels will continue to spin.

Don22
Don22

@dkdk I hear ya.  I'm just saying that they weren't a huge whiff.  It's not like they signed Clarkson and then waived him.  These guys were absolute upgrades to the usual Reason, Pandolfo etc as you mentioned.  But there was also a risk involved.

I guess my point is....it's not big deal.  Plenty to pan Garth on - these aren't worth the words.

Don22
Don22

@Derek Scheer @Don22 The ability is there.  Their numbers show it.  But it was a risk.  Let's not forget, it's not like they were playing with a lot of talent either.  I'm not saying they aren't disappointing.  But I also am not going to label them as impact or targeted signings.  It was an attempt to sign a few guys with more upside than the usual bottom feeder FAs they have brought in - but also with the knowing that hey - we might be waiving/trading these guys once the younger guys are ready.  And that's not a bad thing.

dkdk
dkdk

@don .... I don't think that is the point at all. I think the point is every publication around had him in Minny come July. Had he been traded to a powerhouse that had Cup potential maybe they could have convinced him to stay. Even without bottoming out, a bubble team led by wang would make any player skeptical if you had options. Look at who resigns here ..... Kids on entry level deals that would have been restricted or guys in their late 30s like Nabby or Viz.

The point I see is we had crap on D. If you are going to trade Moulson wait until a dman came on the market. You paid an extremely steep price on spec. Very risky for any team, and when you are not a Cup contender, very foolish.

Don22
Don22

@dkdk There are people that are dying to trade him and there are even people that hope he walks.  Those are the people that are in love with Matt Moulson or hate Garth so much that they want to see another fail.

I am one of the group that wants to see him stay.  I always liked his game and I think he can be really good with JT.

My point being, I don't care for the guy.  I guess I should have said - BTW, he was just suspended....FINALLY.
