Brian Strait breaks hand during game

Defenseman Brian Strait broke his left hand in the middle of Tuesday night’s Islanders game against the Minnesota Wild. (Islanders, March 18)

During the second period, Strait blocked a shot off his arm and proceeded to throw both his glove and stick onto the ice in pain. He remained on the ice to block another shot. (Islanders, March 18)

Strait, who is in his second year with the Islanders, missed roughly eight weeks during the 2012-13 season after he broke his ankle on Feb. 18.

Hope it doesn't diminish his trade value in the offseason.

Come on, guys. Give him a break. Not only did he play another 30 or so seconds, he blocked another shot.

His health problems and Visnovsky's health problems are the reason we are in last place. now without him, what will they do? Another good excuse for Snow to use.
