Kevin SchultzThe Islanders have traded Peter Regin and Pierre Marc Bouchard to the Chicago Blackhawks for a 4th Round Pick in this year’s draft. Two free agent busts that were signed over the summer are sent packing in what could be the first of multiple trades for the Islanders over the coming weeks.
ESPN’s Pierre LeBrun reports that the Islanders are retaining half of both Regin and Bouchard’s remaining cap hits in the deal.
Bouchard, who was sent through waivers to Bridgeport on December 10, had 9 points in 29 games for the Islanders. In Bridgeport, he tallied 17 points in 20 games.
Regin had seven points and was a -10 in 44 games this season.
Both players had been signed to one-year deals during the off-season.
