The Least You Should Know About the Blue Jackets…  Columbus, or Lumbus as they are sometimes called, are riding a five-game losing streak and have lost nine of twelve… The most recent loss was a 4-2 defeat against the Rangers in Ohio on Thursday night… Nathan Horton hasn’t played yet this season after undergoing off-season shoulder surgery… Lumbus is the Rangers mid-west affiliate with Gaborik, Dubinsky, Anisimov, Tyutin on the roster…

The Islanders will make their first Eastern Conference trip to Columbus against new Metro foes the Blue Jackets. Both teams come into the game on losing streaks with the Jackets having lost five in a row and the Islanders losing two in a row this week.

Lighthouse Hockey has coverage of the frustration in Columbus, which boiled over after a loss on Thursday at home to the Rangers. Sounds eerily similar to what we heard from the Islanders after they got smoked in Washington on Tuesday, albeit a little more desperate from a team that is 5-10 in a no good, very bad Metro division. But a few bounces here, a few goals there and these teams could easily be in each other’s shoes.

Kevin Poulin and Evgeni Nabokov will split this weekend’s action, as the Islanders are back-to-back tonight and tomorrow with a rare Sunday game in Montreal tomorrow. Tomorrow’s game does culminate a four-game road trip for the Isles. They’re 0-for-2 this far with zero points to show for it, and they have some work to do to at least salvage a .500 trip.

Nabokov will start tonight, Poulin tomorrow. Also; Staple reports that Carkner and Boulton are in for Nelson and Martinek as the Islanders apparently toughen up for the Blue Jackets.

The Sound Tigers have three games this weekend as they are playing tonight, Sunday and Monday afternoon. Mike Fornabaio thinks that may mean Mike Dalhuisen getting a call up from Stockton to Bridgeport, rather than the Sound Tigers getting Aaron Ness back from the Islanders. With Visnovsky and Strait both not skating, that seems as if it is the most likely scenario.

Projected Lineup:
Vanek-Tavares-Okposo MacDonald-Hamonic Poulin
Grabner-Nielsen-Bailey Hickey-Ness Nabokov
Bouchard-Regin-McDonald Donovan-Carkner
Martin-Cizikas-McDonald/Boulton
Scratches: Nelson , Clutterbuck, Martinek        IR: Visnovsky, Strait
