Game Day (3): Coyotes at Islanders, 7pm

at
Nassau Coliseum — Uniondale, NY
TV: MSG+ Radio: 88.7, 103.9 FM

The Least You Should Know About the Coyotes… The Coyotes do, in fact, still reside in Phoenix even after all the years of relocation speculation… They beat the Rangers 4-1 in the season opener but allowed FIFTY ONE shots to the Sharks in a 4-1 loss Saturday… They added free agent Mike Ribiero as the top line center over the summer… Star defender Oliver Ekman-Larsson has been banged up but will play tonight, according to Brian Compton

There won’t be any Cal Clutterbuck at the Coliseum tonight as the Islanders are going to go with the same lineup they iced in the season’s first two games.

“I could probably play today,” Clutterbuck told Brian Compton of NHL.com earlier today. “But I think just in talking it over with the medical staff and the coaches, it’s just probably better that I be more prudent at this point.”

That means the team is punting the roster decision they’ll need to make until the end of the week at the earliest.

Evgeni Nabokov will be back between the pipes and Mike Smith is expected to start for Phoenix.

Unfortunately you won’t be able to see the league’s best twitter account tonight, @BizNasty2point0, as he will be serving the final game of a three-game suspension. Rusty Klesla and Derek Morris are questionable to play, depleting the Coyotes blueline a bit.

The Islanders are 31-23-12-1 all-time against the Coyotes but the teams have only met once since December of 2010. Their last meeting was a 5-1 Coyotes win on January 7, 2012 in the desert.

Projected Lineup
Moulson-Tavares-Okposo Hamonic-MacDonald Nabokov
Grabner-Nielsen-Bailey Hickey-Visnovsky Poulin
Nelson-Regin-Bouchard Donovan-Strait
Martin-Cizikas-McDonald
Scratches: Carkner, Boulton, Reinhart
