New York Islanders at Pittsburgh Penguins, 1:00pm ET
Pittsburgh, PA — Consol Energy Center — MSG+
This afternoon the Islanders continue their road tour with a stop in Pittsburgh to once again face the undefeated-in-recent-memory Penguins. This game comes on a high note for both teams; the Islanders have won three in a row, are on the cusp of a playoff spot, and re-signed Lubomir Visnovsky while Pittsburgh has won 14 in a row and added a trio of players.
It was an eventful week for Pittsburgh, as they picked up first Douglas Murray from San Jose, then Brenden Morrow from Dallas and best of all, Jarome Iginla from Calgary. There were a lot of questions over the last few days as to when Iginla would arrive in Pittsburgh. It seemed as though he was going to have a tough time getting a work visa over the holiday (yes, even million dollar athletes still need those). But Iginla is in Pittsburgh, arriving yesterday,
although it’s still up in the air as to whether or not he plays tonight and will play today. But either way, the Penguins continue to play well and look to knock off the Islanders for the second time during their streak.
For the Islanders, it’ll likely be Nabokov in goal and a similar lineup as they won their third in a row in Philly on Thursday night. Maybe Boulton will get switched out, but we’ll update when there’s confirmation of the lineup.
Update: Nabokov, Reasoner in, Boulton out.
