New York Rangers at New York Islanders, 7:00pm ET
Uniondale, NY — Nassau Coliseum — MSG+2
The Islanders host the Rangers at the Coliseum tonight for the first time this season, although the teams have already squared off twice at the Garden. The teams split those games, with the Islanders coming back to win the second match 4-3 after falling behind early. Eighth place in the Eastern Conference is on the line tonight, as the Rangers currently sit eighth with the Islanders two points behind. Both teams have also played well; the Rangers winning three in a row and the Islanders winning their last two.
We talked a bit about the Rangers yesterday and what’s going on with them. One thing that happened in the interim is that they picked up Roman Hamrlik up off waivers. Hamrlik, 38, was waived by the Washington Capitals.
Update, 1:00pm — The Rangers will be without Brad Richads and Marc Staal tonight due to injury. Henrik Lundqivst will start in net.
For the Islanders, Evgeni Nabokov will be in net again and the obligatory toughness has been added to the lineup with Eric Boulton in for David Ullstrom. Newsday reports that Lubomir Visnovsky will return on Friday.
