Even though I served, 1964 -1967 in the army, whenever I see an older guy with a WW 2 cap on I always ask ift hey served, and when they reply yes I shake their hands and thank THEM for thier service. And to all who post on this thread that also served, thanks to you also.

I just put my Mom in a Nursing home after taking care of her for Ten Years with Alziemers so when I went to the Nursing home today I had Two reasons to go  . .Today I went to the Nursing Home  and made sure I went around to all the Men and said thank you and Happy Memorial day even they understood me or not.I spent four years in the Military but if it was not for those gentlemen that  are now in wheelchairs, I would have never been able to serve Myself .They are my Heros .Thank You and thank you all of you that served.

All the Kane stuff is interesting but I think there's a valid point everyone is missing. Management & Kane are at odds w/ one another which leads to less return on the open market as well as decreased value due to Kanes character issues. I don't think he'll bring back as much as Jets want. W/ that said no doubt he would improve the Isles but do they really need a guy w/ so many issues on & off the ice? My thought is w/ the Halak signing they stick to improving from the net out.D is now the weakest area on this team. I would use this years pick on a trade down situation or maybe even straight up that could address this area of need immediately. Having Halak should also improve the D just by making the routine saves. Goaltending was brutal last year. Not too worried about backup goalie at this point in time. There should be plenty available to pick & choose from.

         @ orange2327

That's what happens when you have real scouts, a real coach, a real GM and you spend money ! Vanek did us a favor by turning down Snow's offer. What a dog, invisible again tonight! I still don't know how  this Montreal team beat the Bruins! If the Rangers beat either the Kings or Blackhawks they earned the Cup! But I don't think they will!  Vingneault probaly makes more then Snow and entire Islander coaching staff combined.

@truth77 - I went thru similar issues with mine. It's not easy, part of life, but very sad watching your loved ones in that condition. Stay strong, spend as much time with her as possible. God bless and we will keep you and her in our thoughts...

One sentence on our veterans, and twenty of your same old Wang/Snow rant. You're a jerk. You couldn't just post your veterans message alone? You used "having said that" to move from something important like our veterans' sacrifice to something meaningless. Wow. Get help.

Echoing the comments from TAG .... Can't say it any better. Thank you!

@orange2327 Clueless as usual. Which competent GM, coach and scouts will work for a franchise with constantly the lowest revenue (leading to the constantly lowest payroll) due to the crappy lease, crappy arena, crappy pols? Which team with the lowest revenue leading to the lowest payroll got in playoffs 6 years in a row? Why didn't the owners before Wang hire a competent GM, coach and scouts? Can't spend with no money. You've got it ass backwards as usual.

Saying wacky stuff to get attention is old. You've brought this board to a new low.

islesfan77
islesfan77

@orange2327  You still don't get it. Whether you like Wang or not, you just don't understand how money matters in the real world. The Islanders had a major revenue problem long before Wang took control. Fix the root of the problem, not the symptom.

isles23
isles23

Didn't take long to get back to that did it...

camb33
camb33

@orange2327  agreed 100%....if wang did that residents would be up in arms if they found out islanders may have to leave long island....this team would be going nowhere...residents would never let them move...wang is to blame!

islesfan77
islesfan77

@orange2327  What does one have to do with the other? It makes no sense. If Sather fleeced anyone, it was Yzerman, not Snow. There is no way to know if Snow would have made that deal for MSL.

islesfan77
islesfan77

@TonyM  I think you are wasting your time trying to explain money issues to Orange2327. I don't think he gets it or he does not want to understand it. Real scouts, real GM, real coach all cost money and the Islanders have a revenue problem.

dkdk
dkdk

Guys, be strong ... you have my thoughts. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service truth77. We should remember our vets a lot more often than we do as a nation.

dkdk

We get it Brooklyn is better than Maui. You have beat that drum better than anyone I have ever seen.

tpjm
tpjm

@camb33 Since you seem to buy anything, wanna buy a bridge?  It's right next to the new arena that the team is moving to because nassore residents didn't care about NYI.

Perhaps some swampland in Florida?

dkdk
dkdk

Right one has nothing to do with the other, but I believe what orange is getting to are the numerous people spot hat posted the St. Louis deal was worse than Colberg, in an effort to support snow.

tpjm
tpjm

@islesfan77Nice to see someone who gets it because orange and dk never do, never will.

dkdk
dkdk

And winning a playoff round or making the playoffs wouldn't help the revenue? Hiring a better coach and a few more scouts isn't exactly going to add 20m to cost structure. And the revenue problem conveniently forgets the 30M coming from msg that is frequently forgotten about.

Don22
Don22

@orange2327 By why can't we get "all giddy" about Halak?  Why can't you look at things on an individual basis?  Just because the Rangers are doing well and the Isles are still owned by Wang, you can't feel good about a signing that is a small step in the right direction?  You were one of the 1st people to comment that you liked the Halak signing.  Why can't you leave it at that for now?

rocco
rocco

@dkdk - We better change lanes on the Wang subject before the cat calls come...LOL

On Halak, all for it, but surprised the hell out of me. Not so much the obvious Wang/Snow issues along with the pending sale, but the existing defense to be showcased in front of him. Viz/Hickey/Carkner and the armada of prospects waiting to crack the line up are not an overnight fix. It will take time, IMO probably all of Halak's 4 year deal.

On the other side, at least Snow addressed ONE leak in the ship. It all starts in net, then out. Problem is, the D part is still questionable at best. Not all of the heat should fall on Nabby for a lousy year..he was not stellar, but some nights were just stinking bad on the D side. And while we are it dk, how about the coaching and development side of things for the future? That's got to be a BIG question moving forward.

dkdk
dkdk

It certainly is Rocco. And at least millstein and Gluckstern had the decency to come out and say they bought the team to build the arena. Slime balls, yes, but honest at least. Wang lies and people praise him for being lied to. Amazes me.

rocco
rocco

@dkdk - Wang is the OJ of the NHL. He's gotten away with murder, literally IMO. If you took the Spano and Milstein era, combined them together, sprinkled in Mad Mike and a side of DP-Yashin, we are still getting the high hard chin music from the Emperor...sad dk, very sad what this dude has gotten away with.

dkdk
dkdk

Orange ... He is an accounting fraud and hypocrite, but yet he still finds many backing him OVER the team. There is a word for it.

rocco
rocco

@orange2327- LOL, yes Orange, excellent point. Wang bought a team that was bleeding "millions" and got shot down for the obvious reason purchasing the franchise as a billion dollar real estate turn around, then flip it over a 14 year period for double it's net worth. You would think he would take the massive profit and run for the hills. Yet, he still wants a piece. Just like his days @ CA, these numbers stink to high heaven...

I understand that the BC deal is sweet to him and him only, but lot's of questions along the way of the so called "20 million" yearly loses...? Regardless, I'm hoping he bails out 100%...

dkdk
dkdk

Rocco .... You are right, I want him to have 0 interest left in the team. Remember it is a team he regrets buying, but won't fully sell, huh? Criminal POS that he is.

rocco
rocco

@dkdk- It was a bit more more than 600K into to CBW's pocket, but who's counting at this point. Either way, it was enough to buy the NYI and then some. Let's hope dk,  that his days are numbered regarding the sale.

The "partial" ownership that he wants to maintain (via the media) is not good...

dkdk
dkdk

Or the 600M that found its way into his pockets from his CA bonus he authorised. But by all means, keep a candle out for the money he is losing. Lol

dkdk
dkdk

Orange, it is easier to find the z key than days 32, 33, 34, and 35 on the wang accounting calendar.

dkdk
dkdk

Bert I will dumb it down for you to hopefully make you understand, when there is proof that the move will help the team I will be happy. Because someone sitting on their stoop telling me it is great means little. Proof will be in the pudding. My sense is until there is a new owner it matters little where the team plays.

dkdk
dkdk

Bert or is capital z? Either way, get to Brooklyn sell out every night and win some playoff rounds and I will be giddy as well as everyone else. Until that happens it is pure speculation. Speculation that believe it or not I hope you are correct about because I want to see a cup again.

tpjm
tpjm

@dkdk You'd be happy if they stayed sucky forever in suckville so STFU.  You make no sense and whine too much.

dkdk
dkdk

When they get to jay Zs crib you will get the chance to prove it. Until then it is speculation.

tpjm
tpjm

@dkdk Again you assume and make an ass of yourself.  It's about 5 times today.  Brooklyn is the best thing to happen to this franchise since the last cup.  Only butthurt clueless types like you can't handle da truth.  KEEP HOPE ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!  GOING BY JUST THIS CLUELESS BOARD OF YOU AND ORANGE THEN I KNOW I'M RIGHT.   LOL

dkdk
dkdk

Bert I will still go to games because I am an islander fan unlike you who is a Brooklyn fan. You are the ONLY person on this board to relish the move and consistently pizz on the past. Some like the move to Bklyn, some hate it,but everyone understands it is done you. You are the only one that treats it like a wet dreammmmm.

tpjm
tpjm

@dkdk THE HISTORY WAS SO IMPORTANT........THEY LEFT.  Respect that. NOW THEY'LL GET THE ATTENTION THEY DESERVE.  Enjoy the view from your couch.  LOL

dkdk
dkdk

"And make me even happier ...." Again showing you have no respect for history just about going to Brooklyn which is your perogative. Hopefully you have 2000 buddies looking to hold pottery classes in seats where you can't see one of the nets.

tpjm
tpjm

@dkdk Jeez, get SOMETHING right for once. I said repeatedly I'd like the logo to change. Not once did I request the uni to be black and white. You only hear what you want.  The current logo of the island land mass will look silly in Brooklyn as it doesn’t even include the place where they will play. And if Brooklyn/Queens is added to the current logo it excludes the rest of the tri-state NY metro area that will make up a big % of ticket buyers. The Stadium Series "NY" only reaches more people and is more appropriate. It will have a more fitting feel and appeal.

I believe the Brooklyn marketing folks have a % number in mind for changing the logo. Once they see that nassau/suffolk folks aren’t buying tickets under a certain % they will look to make the Stadium Series "NY" logo the main logo. So the LI folks who don't go to Brooklyn will lose your logo and will make me even happier.  It's their fault.  LOL

A former dynasty owner lost their team. That's pathetic.  What's not to bash? As Jack said to Tom Cruise  - "you can't handle the truth".

dkdk
dkdk

Bert several times you said you couldn't wait for a uniform change, and for an Islander "fan" you sure take a lot of shots at their home and history. Why don't you call yourself what you are, a fan of the Brooklyn expansion team.

tpjm
tpjm

@dkdk You didn't answer the question. Show me where I once wrote I want a b&w uni. You leaped before you looked and look foolish. Again. You'll never get the chance for hope vs no hope vs certainty. Yup, they should've stayed in suckville LI to suck forever with no hope and you'd be happy.

dkdk
dkdk

Well if Nassau isn't good enough and all ills get cured in Shanghai lai along with the black and white unis you crave, if doesn't take a leap to understand your beloved deblasio-ville will save us.

tpjm
tpjm

@dkdk Thanks.  Except where did I mention Brooklyn above? Sounds like you can't handle the truth either regarding the poor finances leading to poor results.

myisles72

I think both trades need a bit more time before pronouncing a verdict one way or the other.

dkdk
dkdk

Slapshot .... with all due respect not everyone looks at things in hindsight. Sather traded for a guy with a ring coming off a scoring title and people said it was worse than the Colberg deal.

And the Colberg deal may have been better than the Moulson deal. Snow is inept, that is the problem.

dzruggie
dzruggie

@orange2327 Here is where most fans (not the several who incessantly comment - myself included) look at a comment like (ridiculous effort to support Snow) this and say, this person is - well how to put it nicely, off base.  You process things on such a low level of thought it s quite frankly insulting.  There is no underground support network for Snow or Wang.  People either look at individual moves and comment, understanding that since this is the ownership and management at hand while others prefer to look at the overall body of work and comment and obviously results or lack thereof drive this opinion.  No problem.  But this comment is not worthy of a high school bitch session.  All I am saying is, let's raise the bar a little and you could do a lot better.

slapshot18_rs
slapshot18_rs

@dkdk and to be fair when they were losing 3-1 in the series versus the pens, it looked like a horrendous trade.  now theyre one game from the cup so it looks like a great trade.  its amazing how quickly things can change.

Corrupt owner

How come the second it went rfp, over a dozen props came in?

One thing we have learned though, your keyboard contains the letter z. Good thing there is no z in wang CA scandal or falcon software.

tpjm

@dkdk KEEP IGNORING QUESTIONS.  ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ   Which competent GM wants a team with the lowest revenue because of corrupt nassore?

dkdk
dkdk

MAybe if we have a single credible GM (aside from 40 days of smith) in the last 20 years there would have been some success.

tpjm

@orange2327 Everyone who has a different opinion to you is intelligent. Including me. You must be 6 years old.  Life - get one.

tpjm
tpjm

@orange2327 ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ HOW MANY PLAYOFFS WERE WON FROM '94 UNTIL WANG TOOK OVER?    get a life

tpjm
tpjm

@orange2327 Again you duck the question - you have no answers clown. How does the lowest revenue team get better? Which came first the chicken or the egg? Why have NYI sucked for 20 years since free agency big money started? Because they have no revenue.  Can't get better without money first. It's all wang's fault blah blah blah.  ZZZZZZZZ You're the worst poster on the internet.

tpjm
tpjm

@orange2327 I could have a more intelligent discussion with a chair than with you. AGAIN, how does a team with the lowest revenue and lowest payroll get a consistent 100+ point team? What competent GM, coach, scout would work for the lowest revenue team? And stay? You have no competent answers and never answer questions. Just the same BS.

i love kate murray!!!  she got NYI out of the trouble zone and now there's hope where there was none before!!

dkdk
dkdk

Neil smith got players, hell Milbury got players. Snow gets waivers.

tpjm
tpjm

@dkdk Michael Ozanian (sp?) who writes the Forbes NHL financial article every year which states revenue told me in an e-mail that all cable money is included in revenue totals when I questioned him on it. Pardon me if I believe him and not your biased opinion.

dkdk
dkdk

Right I forgot there are still those believe the unsubstantiated numbers provided by the biggest accounting fraund in the history of the software industry.

tpjm
tpjm

@dkdk How does a team win playoffs with constantly the lowest revenue leading to the lowest payroll? When has it been done?  The cable contract was included in NYI having the league's lowest revenue. Get a clue.

Don22

@Mark Kaiser I agree.  I'm trying to get some to at least accept it as a small step.

Mark Kaiser
Mark Kaiser

@Don22 @orange2327  Many believe the Halak signing was a big step in the right direction, not small. I for one was thrilled and a bit surprised. What is great is we didn't have to give up quality to get quality this time.
