Ominous that Howie and Butch were talking Dennis Vaske yesterday...I hope they are mostly being overprotective with the break forthcoming...

Isn't Hamonic's "upper body" injury really a concussion????????

Can we just trade AMac already.  Just keep Donovan up.  The kid has more ability and more guts than AMAC ever had.  Donovan is just getting his feet wet and his biggest issue is just getting used to the speed of the NHL.  It takes a while to build that up and gain confidence.   Most of his mistakes look to be rushed decisions.  He'll get there if given more consistent playing time.

And hammer is a major part of the core here so this is tough.

I like radek but it's time to move on. These next two games are absolute must wins. As far as Amac goes I want to keep him but its a business as well di that just might move him out.

Isles defense & goal will remain an Achilles heel.  Donovan is a defensive catastrophe - a career minor leaguer.

Snow & Cheeip Charlie won't pay $millions for a 28 minute defenseman, and will trade A-Mac soon.

Vanek's departure imminent - he's a free agent, and will be gone soon.

Isles in a free-fall to playoff oblivion before the Olympic break.

Sell the Isles, Wang!!   Fire Snow!  Fire Cappy!

Tough loss. Need to get a bet to come in for this. Donovan is not ready and it has shown. Should have claimed o brien off waivers from fkames

They probably realized Carkner and Martinek are to slow to play in the NHL. With 5 games before the break might as well let him get completely healthy.

Also maybe they have a trade being set up for McDonald. It's only a matter of time before he is shipped out.

This might have been the plan all along. Since Donovan missed the one game he is now eligible to return to Bridgeport during the Olympic break.

He may not have been ready for the Rangers series, which would leave I think 3 - 4 games before the Olympics break - so yeah, I agree that it's probably just a "better off waiting' scenario.  Especially since he's had a few concussions over his career.

I hope it's not much more than that.

  Hamonic is starting to have a little bit of a concussion history now. This is starting to become very worrisome in my opinion. He hasn't been the same player since the series against Pittsburg last year when he was checking big M all over the ice with some thunderous hits.

Maybe they thought better of it and decided to keep him out until after the Olympic break

When he woke up this morning he didn't feel well. He was practicing with contact so maybe something there.

@dimaio34

Donovan has his lapses, but from my pov he is already better than AMAC.  Although he getting a lot of minutes and he gets a bunch of BS's I can't stand how often he plays the puck instead of the body.  He is constantly getting beat, making bad decisions and never gets physical.

Well played then on Donovan. Hamonic is a tough loss. Nice to get Viz back..

@Don22

He's tooo important a piece of the future to be thinking short term.  Especially with the season looking lost.  I haven't completely given up, but the chances of the Islanders making the playoffs are  looking grim.

@mrcisback

Actually, I think it's unfair to say that about Hamonic.  Crappy and the rest of the brain trust decided to use Hamonic as a forward for half the season.   But the emergence of de HAAN has really helped him play towards his strength and play more defense and less offense.  That's not to say I mind Hamonic becoming a more versatile player.   It's just that it needs to be taken into account.

The concussion card trumps any other worry, though.  I am worried as well.

I just hope Hamonic's career isn't going to be threatened by concussions.   He's a big piece of the long term hopes for this team.
