Funny how Darryl Sutter was just sitting on the sidelines at his Viking ranch, anybody could've snapped him up, and turns the Kings into a machine. Right coach, right situation, right time.

I would trade the 5th pick for a new coach

My 3 kids asked me what i want for fathers day and i said besides a little peace of mind i said "a new owner,a new GM and a new coach. There still scratching their heads. If i had a second choice an LA sweep would be nice also.

I just want the sale to go through. I believe we have a very bright future.  With an owner who has the courage and resources to bring in the right GM and coach, and invest in the right veteran pieces, we can be a contender in 24 months.

I am going to go out on a limb here and state unequivocally that I could not care less who wins this Stanley Cup.  I just don't give a crap about who's going to drink from the cup as long as it's not the Rangers.  I might watch some of the early games and hope the Kings put a hurting on Henrik but, I don't want to know, and I certainly don't want to have to watch the insufferable talking heads all over New York television climb on a Ranger bandwagon that they virtually ignore the rest of the season.  I think I'll concentrate on watching soap operas for the next two weeks...

I'm going to have a real hard time sleeping tonight as I try to contain my excitement over the pending preseason game!

The lowest price face value ticket for the Finals at MSG are $495 and $390 for Staples Center.  This is for last row and are FACE VALUE ticket prices.

What about the poor season ticket holders, regular die hard non-corporate fans.  This is WRONG!  I know America is now "Tale of two countries" but if the Isles were in the finals I would lose all my diposable income for a couple of games.  I have been to at least 30 home games a year when the Isles have been horrible but when/if they become good and make it to the finals I am stuck with $400 face value tickets????

SHAME ON THE NHL!

@Macacawitz I'm curious, if you believe the Islanders have a bright future, why do you feel the GM should be replaced? After all, he's the GM that created the bright future with the current group in Long Island isn't he?

@Sam Sam

How about say you're a season ticket owner for years, and a Giants fan and they make the Super Bowl and now they play the game in another state, and most fans get shut out as corporate heads get a crack at tickets first, just as bad.

Pro sports are all about money. As long as some one is willing to pay, it will continue. Plus you should hear what Ranger season ticket holders are getting for their tix. crazy.

I heard many tickets to the Barclays exhibition game are faced at around 300.

What is scary is the Metsies would be right there if the pen hadn't trashed what feels like a dozen games already.

@islesfan77 @Macacawitz

Yeah, because billionaires need to count their pennies, right?

Chuck Wang has plenty of "resources": cable TV money, Barclays money, and the  700M he stole from Computer Associates shareholders.

Only those on his payroll and the willfully ignorant say otherwise.

@Isleguy27 @Macacawitz That's an excellent question, I'm glad you asked.  Someone already made the point, when you draft at the bottom year after year after year after year after year, you're going to wind up with some talented prospects.  These prospects now need to be nurtured and developed and taught how to win.  They need the best coaching available, they also need to be surrounded with veteran leaders who can teach and aid in their development.  Just because you drafted them, doesn't mean your going to be able to develop them.  In order for a GM to to best represent and bargain on behalf of his team, he must be respected.   I'd argue that in GM circles, Garth Snow commands the least respect.  Why you ask?  Because he's never really been the GM.....he's been the puppet of a lunatic owner who micromanages everything.  Snow is perceived as an afterthought hiding behind the worst owner in the history of the game.  He's a remnant of an awful past, a reminder of how far the team had sunk.

Few teams in the history of this great game need a fresh start and total makeover more than the Islanders.  Our long nightmare is about to end.

The stench that emanates from Uniondale cannot be dragged to Brooklyn.  It's time to clean house.  Snow along with the rest of the gang of fools to take up space in the islanders offices must go.

dkdk

When you draft top 5 every year it would be pretty hard not to have a few good prospects wouldn't it?

How about some Soap operas by Snow  1-called 'All my draft picks'

and general anger, and malaise.

and Baileys Hope. Hope he gets put on the 1st line.

@orange2327

I'll go for the last one...  That one I will definitely watch, because I hope both Strome and Pulock turn into bona fide NHL players.  The other three all deal with things that are about to expire, and i don't want to invest too much time in something that is not going to be here for too much longer.  The Mausoleum will be gone by next year and i would hope you get your wish for the owner as well...

@dkdk  Yes with a fourth of the arena having obstructed views of the ice surface.

islesfan77

@shamwow @islesfan77 @Macacawitz  So which am I, on the payroll or willfully ignorant?

1. I don't believe Wang is a billionaire.

2. He does not have the Barclays money yet, but it may be a game changer in the future (I hope).

3. Cable TV money is not enough to make payroll.

4. No proof he stole $700M from CA

5. I believe Wang is worth $700M.

I consider myself a huge Islander fan (not a fan of Wang or Snow), but if I had $700M, I would never reach into my pocket to support the team. The team has to become self-sufficient. It is a business.

Is Barclays the answer? I don't know. I was hoping the annual payment would be more then $75M, I hope with that and the cable money, it is enough for anyone who owns the team, to put a competitive product on the ice for years to come.

@orange2327 LOL.  Firing their hitting coach is shaking things up?

And orange wasn't hudgens tied to alderson for almost 20 years and he was still shown the door? Even the mets occasionally look for accountability.

@dkdk Personally, I would rather not see the Rangers in the finals, but hey, that's just me.

dkdk

Dipping in his own pocket? First of all he had no problem dipping into the pockets of CA investors. Secondly he is about to sell the team for a 200M plus profit.

@orange2327 Again, FOCUS. I am IslesFan77, not Islesguy27. I am the one who sighed.

@orange2327 it was not a lie, it was old information. I don't research Wang all the time (have a life) and apparently I am not a good supporter of his if I don't know his current net worth. I have no reason doubt Forbes.

By the way, you are the very last person on this blog that should be questioning anyone's honesty.

By the way, you are actually more funny when you are not trying to be. Classic.

dkdk

Right orange, and adding 6-7 more scouts and legit GM and coach would add a whopping 3-4M which is like 20 bucks to most people defending his pocketbook

islesfan77
islesfan77

@orange2327 Yes, we have been over it and you have produced no proof to support your claim. No conviction, no finding of liability.

However, I love your contorted logic: Wang left no e-mails or voice mails so this means he is guilty. Oh I would love to see that approach to the judge:

Prosecutor: Judge, we have no proof of any kind to support our case, no e-mails or voices.

Judge: Well, clearly if you have no evidence, he must be guilty. Let me hear you on sentencing.

On what planet is the lack of evidence equal to a guilty charge?

islesfan77
islesfan77

@dkdk You still have no proof that he took money from CA investors, repeating it several times does not make it true.  For all I know, it may be true, but until there is proof, you have nothing but allegations.

islesfan77
islesfan77

@dkdk When it comes out of your pocket in addition to the $10-$30 million that Hockey News believes that Wang might have spent from his pocket during some of the years of his tenure, you might feel differently. I wouldn't do it. Instead, I would try to create a revenue stream for the Islanders so that it can last for generations even when I am gone.

dkdk
dkdk

Oh and those people aren't getting 250% return on their investment either.

islesfan77
islesfan77

@orange2327 Apparently, you are the one who is clueless or cannot read. I am Islesfan77, not islesguy27.  FOCUS. Know who you are responding to when you get your facts wrong.

The last number I read was that Wang was worth $700. I double checked online and it appears that this was an old number. Apparently this figure is a few years old.

"chump" - that is funny. Tough talk from an orange.

dkdk
dkdk

And now that you brought up the GM we found in the shower, it is great reading all the trade rumors for guys like Evander Kane, then you read Winnipeg papers and blogs and it sounds like any offer must start with a 2015 number 1. And why don't we have a 2015 number one again? It must be some sort trauma but I am blacking out on that. But I forgot Garfie is doing a good job. Just don't look at his coaching hires, the trades he made, or free agents he signed.

islesfan77

@dkdk Personally, I did not like the Vanek trade from day one, but many other fans did.

I smell a Bailey for Peter Regin deal coming.

islesfan77

@orange2327 Right, lets not sign young unproven players ever. Let's not sign our draft picks because they are not blockbusters. Only have proven players on the team at all times. Do not try to build from the draft and do not try to make your farm team good.

Sarcasm off.

That was for you RM. Be well.

That is who I called over a year ago. A close second is Petrov. Bribe him with a guaranteed one way deal sight unseen like we did so productively with Ullstrom at the expense of niño.

dkdk

I could take a flyer on penned, but he does have a lot of kasha/sisbister in him. He looks like a beast for a few games then hibernates for a bunch. Then again it has gotten Bailey far on this team

dkdk

Another very valid point. There is one guy I think is UFA that I wanted when he was waived, jussi Jokinen. Great penalty killer, gritty, sound in all zones and could chip in some offense.
