John Tavares is skating with former junior team

John Tavares is skating with the London Knights of the OHL as they prepare for the Memorial Cup. (Shannon, May 9)

Tavares played 24 games for London, scoring 32 goals and 18 assists, after being traded from Oshawa in his final season in the OHL in 2008-09.

 He was cleared to begin skating last week.

Tavares tore his medial collateral ligament and meniscus in his left knee during the Olympics. He did not have surgery.

The way San Jose gave up do not be surprised if there if there is a lot of moves  this summer.Best time to shop when Teams are in a bad position .I am sure we can use one of their Players.Look what Vancouver did when forced to change a Team . Mike Milbury are you advising Vancouver?  Gibson play proves what I have said  all along, there is a ship load of talent in the Juniors ,College and A.H l . Young and Talented Goalies are begging for there turn to play.

Hey was interested in signing heatley. Not anymore. Not the player we are looking for

I really don't hate the Rags like I used to 20+ yrs ago. I mean even the games Isles play against them aren't heated at all.Not to mention the Isles haven't been relevant in years. I actually hate Pitt & Boston. Rags not so much anymore.W/ that said I'm pulling for Rags. Thanks Wang.PS.....Hey Garth what's up w/ Halak???

If you guys check out YouTube. Type in rob dimaio fights. And check out some of his scraps pounded the daylights out of leach from bost Dimaio was a small guy but he could scrap. His days in medicine hat were outstanding. Power packed player. He's now player dev for stlouis

Bib Mackenzie was saying on tsn that niño fell out if favor with mgmt. and minny didn't want to pay clutter is deal so a trade was made. Jt91 wanted cal on the team. They played junior together. So that's how the trade played out

  Its all about goaltending. Like i commented several times during the season if the Islanders had Lundquist as their goaltender and the Rangers had Nabakov/Poulan the Islanders would be playing Pittsburg and the Rangers would be picking 5th.  I think Pittsburg will win game 7. Some players on Pittsburg are due to explode.

gleichzahl

even the ranger pp looks better than pitt's right now, just to show how that can go.  lundqvist made a nice save near the end but really pitt never set up in the offensive zone and he had a comfortable night.

gleichzahl
gleichzahl

the only case i can make for pitt right now is that even up 3-1 they knew the series could well go seven and they're prepared for this.  but even that's a stretch.  even when they won it was the rangers playing down and not really pitt playing up.  they'll give up goals in game seven.

Draft Demko this yr.  I want the next Gibson in 3-4 yrs from now.

Demko might not be quite the same prospect but similar in ability.

Yes sir,

Nino was not a reach, IMO.  Good pick at #5.  Didn't like his attitude, but mistakes coming from a 19 yr old are expected!  Garth/Cappy.... NO EXCUSE!!!  All those who tell me "he should have shut and played", tell me, what kind of mistakes did you make at that age???

3 things I don't get about this trade:

1-Why did Snow agree to trade him.  He's a kid, work with him!  Worst case scenario, tell Nino "if you want out, do x, y and z, up your value AND THEN I'll get you a trade"

2-Why anyone does NOT hold this organization accountable.  This terrible trade was MOSTLY the fault of the Islanders front office and coaching.

3-Why CBuck is called a bad player.  He's a VERY good role player.   Stop judging his ability based on how he got here.  I'm glad to have him, just wish we only gave a 2nd rd pick for him.

@dimaio34 Yeah and people were arguing with me on here about how good the Nino trade was for the Team,How in any way was this good for the Islanders. .He has not even played the power play yet,wait to he plays the first minute of the power play with that shot of his. That is when we are really going to be sorry.He is bigger and stronger then J.t he could end up in the long run to be just as good.Like I said before, this and the Chara deal will be the worst in Islanders history.Snow should have been fired for this move and the Vanek fiasco.

@dimaio34 Not here.  He really has no value other than taking stupid penalties and fighting for no reason.  Loved what he did against the Pens.  Let that be part of his legacy here and that's it.

@dimaio34

Forget Haley, he was a fan favorite until he threw his chance to play away by signing with the hated Rangers who saw fit to sit his arse for the entire season.

@dimaio34  Good information Dimaio thank you. I also heard the part about JT wanting Clutterbuck.

dkdk

That all seems plausible to me. And they probably felt getting his buddy from juniors would take the sting out from not wanting to pay Moulson in JTs eyes.

Pitts loses game 7. Their time is up. If bost wins and nyr win. Bost goes to the cup. If mont wins. Mont goes to the cup. I'm just laughing at Pitt. You can see how their window is closing. All the talk of the two headed monster. Not anymore. I feel mont wins the east

@orange2327    Don't worry Orange. The difference between Boston and Pittsburg is Pittsburg doesn't want to break a nail when playing these games. Boston will flatten Martin St Louis, Zuccarello, and any other player on the Rangers that they need to. I'll start worrying if Montreal comes back against Boston.

dkdk

Bravo for that!!!

@orange2327  Nash hasn't been great, but the dude has 50+ shots in these playoffs. He gets all the blame because of his cap hit, he hasn't been that bad.

You are dead on with that. We got two seconds trade up !!!!

@willymayshays I agree about everyone making mistakes at 19 years old.  But there is one thing I didn't have that he has - an experienced agent to advise me to sit down and shut up.  No doubt the whole thing was handled wrong, but as far as I'm concerned - go be a problem somewhere else.

Time will tell, but I bet that MN isn't his last stop in the NHL.

@truth77 @dimaio34  I loved Nino in his draft year, but after he got drafted, he started sucking. Maybe the organization rubbed him the wrong way right off the bat. Regardless, it was his job to be a professional.

Any which way it's looked at, the New York Islander's organization leaves a TON to be desired!

slapshot18_rs
slapshot18_rs

well nn is not nearly as gifted as JT but i get your point.

the reason snow is held onto is because wang is literally unable to assess any value in the NHL because he knows nothing about hockey.  you need to understand the sport of hockey to be able to assess value of players and their abilities, and i find it very hard to believe that wang understands what actually happened in the trades that snow has made.  i find it hard to believe that wang understands the value of his own players, let alone other players around the league.

The Moulson situation is baffling. How could you not want your heart and soul back

@orange2327   Your right the Rangers have better defenseman but Lundquist would cover up a lot of the islanders defensive liabilities.

dkdk

And stralman is pretty good too. And remember they grabbed him on a camp invite, the same time we gave one to staios.

@orange2327  and they do have some offense that shows up, even if it's not the most highly touted guys.  now it's eight goals in the last five periods. i've seen the rangers lose games that i have no idea how they lost, but imo you can see that if they gain confidence they're hard to beat, by anybody.

gleichzahl

@cunny @orange2327  not only that, but as long as they advance it's not bad having him lying in the weeds, so to speak,

willymayshays

@dimaio34

There are 4 goalies that will go in the second rd, I think.  I'd take any 2.

But, I'd prefer McDonald and Demko.

Wish I could add to my comment after 5 mins is up.  Why does the edit only last 5 mins.  HOW STUPID is that!!

Also, where does Ritchie fall?  Some say he might not be in the top 10, I would love to trade back and still get Ritchie.

@dimaio34

YES!

or, trade back with the 1st.  (Not saying I do this, BUT)  I really like Tuch.  I really doubt he goes lower than #12.

Tuch and Demko instead of DalColle... I might do it.

@orange2327  i'm not a boyle fan, but the brassard/pouliot/zuccarello line seems key to me.  i think pouliot was a $1.2mil free agent...

@slapshot18_rs  are you sure?  imo for pitt tonight it's about damage control and getting the momentum at least closer to even for game seven.

rocco
rocco

@orange2327 - Excellent point. He has been awfully quiet. If the CBJ get a couple of bounces in the previous series, Pens get ousted in the first round. Alot like what the Isles did to them last year.

MAF almost blew game six in Columbus. All the chatter of shutting out the Rags for a couple of games and being in "cup form" was a bit early. Still have to win four games, and the last one is the toughest.

rocco
rocco

@orange2327 - Yes he does. And MAF is a mess, no Tomas Vokun to bail him out this year. This has been part of his MO for a few years now, good in the regular season and chokes it up in the playoffs. Pen's brass has to think about sitting MAF in game 7 if this holds up.

gleichzahl

@orange2327  pitt didn't do much even the games they won.  it was all based on the rangers doing even less, and that doesn't last.

@slapshot18_rs

I just want Wang to create a good front office and have them do that.  I want Wang to take the "hands off" approach.

slapshot18_rs
slapshot18_rs

do you think wang is sitting down watching playoff hockey to scout players and get a better sense of the game? highly doubt that.
