Kirill Kabanov has been reassigned to the Stockton Thunder of the ECHL, the Islanders announced.
Michael Fornabaio tweets that Kabanov was late to a team meeting.
Arthur Staple tweets that Kabanov being sent down isn’t a punishment and that the organization is trying to get him more minutes. Staple notes that Kabanov wasn’t able to lock down a top-six role with the Sound Tigers.
Kabanov tallied nine points (2 G, 7 A) in 32 games for the Sound Tigers in 2012-13. He had one goal in 2 games for the Sound Tigers this season.
He was drafted 65th-overall in the 2010 draft.
Kabanov’s entry level contract expires after next season.
