Kevin SchultzIt’s pretty quiet in Islander Country lately. There is no news at all on any possible transfer of ownership interests. The draft is still a few weeks away and free agency a bit further.
One small note is that Dan Boyle is going to make a decision on the Islanders sooner rather than later. Arthur Staple tweeted yesterday that Boyle will decide by the end of the week if he is interested in talking contract with the Islanders. If he decides to skip out on the Island, the Islanders could flip him around to some other team for a pick or, in the better scenario, is that contract talks do begin.
It’s known that Boyle wants to play for a contender and, as it stands, the Islanders are not a contender. Despite the addition of an actual goaltender, it’s hard to convince anyone the team is a contender when it finished 26th in the NHL last year. Hopefully, there’s a way to convince Boyle otherwise but at 37 years old, you can’t blame him for wanting to take his best shot at a Cup.
And finally… Sad Ranger fans. Thanks to Getty Images and Keith
