Peter Regin Agreed to Isles Contract in a Cab

When it came to free agency this year, Peter Regin was already interested in joining the Islanders partially due to that fact that his countryman and childhood friend Frans Nielsen already a part of the team. Over at Lighthouse Hockey, Dom wrote about a Danish story that details Nielsen’s confidence in his friend and also has an interesting note about Regin’s contract negotiation.

In the article, Regin is quoted discussing how he long had the Isles in his sights, so the decision when free agency opened was a quick one that he made while in a taxi cab on the way back from the golf course.

Nielsen also said in the Danish article that he hopes to be able to play on the same line as Regin, although that may be tough to do given that both players are centers.
