With all of their cap room, you could see the Isles sign Vanek AND bring Moulson back over the summer.

nobody realizes how much room he is going to open up on the ice for jt... no more triple teaming JT... jts numbers will increase... vaneks number will increase... and who ever else is on that line will play better

Solid trade for isles. Vanek is an elite winger, now paired with JT. And about the draft picks? We have numerous high draft picks currently on the roster- Okposo, Bailey, JT, hamonic...and several more on the way. This is a win now move. Plus we have plenty of prospects to make even more moves. Honestly analyze this, it's genius. Oh and about Vanek walking??? There are still 73 games to go this season lol. If he gels with JT he will sign here.

Shouldn't they be addressing the issue between the pipes?

just like pa parenteau was a product of playing w/ JT.

Garth didn't make this move to see Vanek go to UFA next summer. He'll have him signed and in the fold.

All of you who are crying about "giving up too much". Do you want to keep the 1st rounder and select a guy at no. 16 thru whatever and plant his ass in the minors for the next 4 years with your fingers crossed that he will crack the starting lineup someday? Knock it off! Vanek is a proven sniper and Moulson was a cupcake who wouldn't do the dirty work to be successful( See: Playoffs vs. Pens last season) We still have plenty of assets to get help, so calm down.

Moulson was out pricing himself here. Too many people feel he is a product of JT. Vanek would never sign here without actually playing here. Might just be a product of letting him see what he can be part of going forward and him liking it. Don't love giving up the picks without getting miller but we are better right now than we were.

Anyone who thinks it's a stupid move...just WOW...NO

Maybe in some weird f'n way this is to free up room for some younger guys already in the system. I don't know. Can we scratch PMB and someone else a nod start seeing Nelson and Strome.

Buffalo tried to trade him last year and no one would do it cause they knew they had no chance to resign him!

Problem is Vanek is never re-signing here. He is going to Minnesota next year.

The 1st rounder most likely will be around 18th pick. Vanek is an elite scorer. We've got enough youth. And there is time to resign Vanek if he works out. And can still sign Moulson after the season perhaps.

We trade a guy we picked up off the scrap heap for a top end talent...when he scores 40 for us you will be praising snow...the guy is a genuis...im ecstatic about this move

Should've been from Miller. Goaltending is what we have to address the most. Ourl problem is not putting the puck in the net. It's keeping it out of our net. I guess time will tell

Was this a smart move? We also gave up 2 picks.

Matt Moulson leads the league in PPG, let's see if Vanek will step up to the plate. I'm not sure how I feel about this move either, but I'd love to know how JT feels about his buddy leaving... I'm actually shocked.

Except we gave up the draft picks. Stupid move. Hands down a stupid move. Garth paid too much.

and it's not like moulson was locked up... so this isn't a "rental" and more than keeping moulson would have been

wow!!!! sad to see moulson go, but... vanek could put up 50G with this team. now we need a d-man

I don't like this trade...too much for a player who will be a free agent at the end of the season

What a shitdick move, all the good snow has done over the last 5 years is ruined

trade a soon to be ufa and two draft picks for a soon to be ufa... and do nothing to address the goaltending and defense issues... love vanek and jt finally has the elite winger he needs... but still no right wing

Vanek is a very solid top line player, but we need help on d and in goal...I thought we were getting enough scoring

Doesn't fix the D or G issues. Vanek is UFA also.

I'll mis Matt on the Tavares line.

Moulson was not getting big bucks from us next contract...so wise of Garth to get a quality sniper in Vanek.

Excellent move. I had called for Moulson to be used as trade bait during the off-season....glad Garth was listening to me.
