In an interview with this blog’s founder Chris Botta back in April, Islanders owner Charles Wang opened up about the Islanders impending move to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
One new piece of information that came out of the interview was that the business side of the Islanders will be folded into that of the Barclays Center. While GM Garth Snow and the rest of the hockey operations staff will largely remain intact, that will not be the case for other departments such as the advertising sales and ticket sales staff.
This transition will occur not in 2015 or 2014 when the Islanders move to the Barclays Center. Instead it will happen next month in July 2013, according to a source. Many staffers affected by this transition have already left on their own, while some have stuck around to this point.
This change in staffing does not alter the timetable of the move to Brooklyn in 2015, or as early as 2014, as Point Blank reported in early April.
