Staple: Contract for Lubomir Visnovsky could be done soon

Discussions between Lubomir Visnovsky and the Islanders are “very positive,” according to multiple sources of Arthur Staple of Newsday.

Staple notes that the deal for Visnovsky “could be done soon.”

With the Islanders in the 2012-13 season, he’s played in 22 games with three goals and six assists.

He is averaging 23 minutes per game this season and six of his nine points have come on the power play.

Visnovsky had 16 points in 32 games for HC Slovan Bratislava in the Kontinental Hockey League during the lockout this season.

In his NHL career, he’s played in 793 games, with 120 goals and 339 assists.

He currently has a cap hit of $5.6 million but his actual salary for this year is $3 million.
