Dal Colle will have ZERO points this year. He isn't making the team.

So basically the experts are projecting that Bailey will disappoint me again?

Remember this is "Fantasy" guys.  I don't want to start a Lee vs. Strome fight, but if you push their number out from last year over a full season; Lee scores 33, Strome 16.  Of course this is just math, it's not based on linemates or TOI.  And btw Lee had more goals than Strome in BP. They both belong on the Island.  Bailey !@#$%^&* and Conacher-he's 5'8" 180 and he's scored 18 goals in 126 NHL games.  Put the best damn players on the ice for once.

dont really follow hockey as close as I used to, are people really saying Dal Colle is NHL-ready?

I stopped reading when they had dal colle with 45 points. let alone 1 point.

This would be a godsend. If everyone produced as they forecast that's 3G/game without the D. If halak even has a 2.6gaa we win the division!

Just for the fun of it Hockey the Buzz says the Islanders and the Blues are the two teams interested in Evander Kane. I'll believe it when i see it.

Only if Strome played 2nd line center. Playing wing will hurt his development.

They list 16 forwards. Assuming Dal Colle gets sent back to juniors, that leaves 3 extra guys. And that doesn't even include the odd game here or there Boulton plays. Who are the odd men out?

You know there will be plenty of idiots who get burned and draft Dal Colle.

Lee is better than 30 points, he`ll have 20 goals if he plays most of the games.

I have no problem giving Nelson a shot at the top line but I thought of something last night. The idea is to play Grabo and Kulemin together to hopefully get Kulemin back his 30 goal potential. Well what if Kulemin was given a chance to play with JT? Then you could put Nelson on the third line with Nielson and Grabner, giving our checking line two centers and three solid 2-way players. Also then you can put both Strome and Lee on a 2nd line with Grabo giving them the proper ice time to put up the points we all think they have the potential to do. Just an idea but I think it could work.

Dal Colle with 45 points? Gonna be hard since he's going back to Juniors.

Not a bad projection for some of the players. 20 goals and 52 points is about exactly where i project Ryan Strome to be. The Islanders are going to make a big mistake if they trade this guy. Michael Dal Colle won't even be on the Islanders. Put it this way if he makes the team and scores 45 points i'll be real surprised. Way way low numbers for Anders Lee 30 points. He scored 9 goals and 14 points in 22 games with limited ice time. I project him at 25 goals and 45 points. The rest of the numbers sound ok to me. Are those numbers for Bailey playing for the Islanders or for another team. I do see the Islanders scoring a lot of goals this year some where between to 5 to top 10 in the league. The defense could be a work in progress.

Going to be hard for Strome to max his potential playing LW or on a checking line.  Don't see a spot for Strome to excel in unless Grabo plays LW.  Grabo/Strome/Kule.  Don't think that's going to happen and that will hurt his potential.  If Strome was playing 2nd line center I'd go over that projected number.

I hope Kulemin has more than 28 points AND Nelson is going to have a HUGE yr, because I bet you anything he's moving to JT's line, where he's performed well already.

Guys - relax.  This is just for fantasy hockey fans.  It's not different than all of those Fantasy Football rankings that I am sure many of us use if you play FF.  It's no big deal.

is this a joke? not a bad comeback year for pat conacher i guess? dal colle is expected to put  up quite a bit of points...funny considering he wont step foot on nhl ice all year...

why post this garbage

When did we pick up Pat Conacher? Good move, veteran presence.

We don't even know what the final roster is yet, not to mention lines. Point predictions are, well, pointless. Tavares should get about 90 points, that's the only logical projection at this time.

We should be used tp Bailey disappointing us.

It looks like Strome will have to move to RW to be on the second line. Lee or Nelson could grab the first-line LW job. If those players are productive in those roles, our third and fourth lines will be among the best in the NHL.

slapshot18

you're right on the pts, Strome had 13 goals and Lee had 22.  Their linemate Mike Halmo had 18 goals.  Strome's +16, awesome.  My point isn't against Strome, it's just the mindset (hopefully not yours) that certain players (Lee) are AHL and others are NHL.  To keep Bailey on NHL ice because we're afraid to subject him to waivers denies other players with potential to help us.

RM. Its amazing to me how some still seem to completely disregard the numbers. I've said many time they are not the end all be all but to say they mean nothing, I just don't understand that.

since72

@Scott Weinstein   Unless there is a trade, I would think Lee starts in the AHL (don't like it, but it's reality), McDonald clears waivers and does the same, and Conacher sits in the press box as depth.

since72

@isles23 That's thinking outside the box 23!  I keep thinking that there is some sort of understanding that Grabo and Kulemin would play together.  Putting Kulemin on with JT could be a nice option.  Only problem is that, given the current roster, Lee will probably start at the Bridge because of Bailey and Conacher being here.  Would much rather see Lee, but we may have to wait for injury for him to get in the lineup barring a trade.  I like the thinking, though.

@mrcisback  I would be really happy if Strome scores 20 goals, but I think it is wishful thinking. That seems too much for his first full season, but it would be great if he could do it.

@willymayshays i think grabo/strome/kulemin could be a very interesting line, they all bring a solid element to the line for sure.

slapshot18_rs

@Don22 fantasy projects their projected value based on real life expectations.  thats why it is not realistic.  NFL projections are much more realistic.  i guess thats partially why i dont play fantasy hockey.

Don22
Don22

@slapshot18_rs It's not a joke in that it's so they can rank players in their fantasy league.  It helps people that are drafting.  Of course it's a crap shoot and nobody other than fantasy sites would project this.  Do you play fantasy football?  It's no different than ranking Adrian Peterson #1 overall and predicting he will score 18 TDs and run for 1800 yards,

However, if they are close then that's not too bad in the goal scoring area.  I think they scored like 215 or so goals last year, so 185 from the top 9 is pretty good.

Slow news day.  LOL

slapshot18_rs
slapshot18_rs

@finnmaccul i gotcha. though, given baileys age and contract, he HAS to start the season on the team.  you cant just waive him. its not the popular choice, but its what is going to, and imo, should happen.  if after 15-20 games he isnt productive and strome or lee is in the ahl, then im all for replacing him in the line up.  but i think strome and lee will both find a spot on the team this year.

@Joe Spinato @Wc Christopher

Tavares, Crosby, Thornton, Trottier, Clarke, Esposito, ...when do you want me to stop? Just kidding. You're point is on target. A few, not almost every, top centers played wing at first.

mrcisback
mrcisback

@islesfan77 @mrcisback I think 20 goals is very attainable for Strome as long as he gets 2nd line minutes. Remember he's been working out with Tavares all summer.I bet he comes to camp heavier and stronger then he was last year.

Joe Spinato
Joe Spinato

@Logan Monstuart @mrcisback why not? he works out with JT in the offseason and dominated the ahl by a huge margin before he started getting moved around, strome could absolutely put up at least that

slapshot18_rs
slapshot18_rs

@Don22 @slapshot18_rs its a joke in the fact that theyre supposed to have hockey knowledge and they believe dal colle is going to be rookie of the year when he wont even play and theyre saying PAT conacher is going to have close to 30 points.

its way different than rating AP the first overall pick....which i happen to have in my draft this year :)

edit: this was before they made the edit to cory conacher.

Mark Allan

Bailey would have been traded by now if Garth could find a team willing to take an underperforming, overpaid player.

Don22
Don22

@slapshot18_rs Well, I guess they have to project just about anybody - or at least guys in the top 10 draft.

I'm not doing FF this year.  for the past 5 or so I ran a Yahoo league, but it became such a pain to get guys to pay the league fees that I decided not worth it.  Plus, with a 3 1/2 year old and one on the way in September, I will be lucky to be able to watch football this season. LOL
