Tavares will begin skating next week

John Tavares has been cleared to begin skating again next week, he told reporters on Monday.

“I know my limitations,” he said (Savarino, April 14).

Tavares tore his medial collateral ligament and meniscus in his left knee during the Olympics. He did not have surgery.

it doesn't matter if he starts now or next month.  and by 'skating' they don't mean he'll be going at it very hard.  let's hope the healing goes well.

btw, that was a classy interview by jt last night, not that i'd expect any less.

This is great news! Some question JT's leadership, but I believe he will lead the Islanders back to the play-offs next season.

Is he really going to be 100% going into next season? I think he should have had surgery because if his knee gets injured again, it could make for a major set back.

                     If the Islanders remain at #5 in the upcoming draft i would look at 4 other players if the top 4 guys are all gone.  Michael Dalcolle,Jake Virtanen,Nick Ritchie and Nikola Ehlers. I love the comments about each of those 4 players from different hockey outlets. Nikola Ehlers reminds me of Jeff Skinner when everyone thought he could score but he was too small and fragile. I also would consider moving back a few spots if a team makes a good offer.

@Isleguy27  Who questions it? the Ranger fan that lives down the block that wears the same 1994 cup shirt 3 days a week????

@rmreturns

I might also add that he should be spending some time with Lee and Bailey, too...  One of those is his left wing next year...

@mrcisback  Really like the first three guys you mentioned and I'd add Brendan Perlini to that list as well. No offense to Nikolaj, but I'd prefer the larger North American born wingers.
