3:15pm: And that’ll do it. The Islanders quiet on trade deadline day.
1:45pm: The Islanders have activated David Ullstrom from IR and returned him to Bridgeport.
12:34 pm: A source tells Islanders Point Blank “no chance” the Saad trade happens.
11:38am: ESPN’s Craig Custance says that he is “told the Blackhawks wouldn’t even consider trading Brandon Saad. Don’t see that one happening.”
11:21am: Staple has a name: Brandon Saad. The 20-year old left wing is a Blackhawks 2011 second round pick with 20 points in 34 games so far this year.
11:17am: Arthur Staple tweets that the Islanders are looking to add “a young player off an NHL roster. Would surprise many if they can get this deal done.”
Staple doesn’t name names. However, if I had to guess, one player being heavily shopped is Ottawa goalie Ben Bishop. Bob McKenzie tweets that there are five teams in the running for him and a “50/50” chance that he moves today. Bishop is a 26-year old netminder who has posted a .922 save percentage in 12 games for Ottawa this year.
11:10am: The Islanders have added Jesseu Joensuu to the active roster. The team has also officially signed Andrey Pedan to a 3-year entry level deal that will kick in next year. Pedan is headed to Bridgeport on an ATO.
