DEVILS 1, ISLANDERS 0: PLUS/MINUS Losing Streak Now 14 of 16 Games

- The loss is the Islanders’ 14th in 16 games.

- The Islanders were unable to take advantage of three power plays in the first period. A goal on any of those would have given the game a much different complexion.

- They were also unable to convert a power play with just under six minutes left in the third and were 0-for-4 on the game.

- Shut out at home for the fifth time this season in 13 home games. It’s been said before and will be said again — absolutely unacceptable.

- 38 goals on November 25th is the smallest total of any team in the post-lockout era on this date.

+ Today’s announced attendance was 15,000+. Of course, some of those were Devils fans but it’s a nice number for a holiday weekend. Unfortunately, they were not treated to a win.

- John Tavares has not scored since November 5th. In his defense, it’s hard to score when opposing teams only need to game plan against one scoring threat.

+ Michael Grabner getting breakaways and penalty shots.

- Michael Grabner not converting said breakaways and penalty shots.

+ Al Montoya. His save percentage moves from .926 to .930 after today’s game.

- If placing Blake Comeau on waivers had the intention of sending the offense a message, it didn’t look like it today.

Extra super special minus – The Blue Jackets play tonight for the chance to leap frog the Islanders for title of ‘Fewest Points in the League.’

MICHEAL HALEY BATTLES CAM JANSSEN
Two minutes into the first Haley and Janssen, the Devils’ enforcer, went at it. The fight was wild and entertaining, everything you might expect from two evenly matched fighters. Here’s the video per HockeyFights.com.
