Islanders Sign Colin McDonald to Two-Year Extension
Kevin Schultz , Islanders Point Blank:
The Islanders have announced that 28-year old winger Colin McDonald has been signed to a two-year extension through 2014-15.
McDonald, named Sound Tigers captain at the beginning the year, made the Islanders out of training camp and has played in a bottom-six role through the shortened NHL season. Most recently, McDonald has found some success on the Islanders’ energy line with Casey Cizikas and Matt Martin, playing a bit over 10 minutes per night.
In 24 games so far this season, McDonald has 10 points and four goals.
Arthur Staple reports the deal is worth $600,000 this year and $675,000 next year, which are near the league minimum salary of $550,000.
