ISLES IN GERMANY — Bailey Scores, DiPietro Still Not Dressing for Games

Kevin Schultz

A little over a week ago, Josh Bailey headed to Germany to play for Beitgeim in the second division. Bailey is doing well, with 5 points (1G, 4A) in his first two games for the Steelers. His team’s last game was over the weekend against SC Riessersee, Rick DiPietro’s team.

Unlike Bailey, DiPietro is still MIA having played only one game (10/14 vs. Landshut) since signing with Riessersee in early October. Not only that but DiPietro has not even dressed as the backup since his start against Landshut. All of the team’s boxscores since October 14th have Markus Keller and Korbinian Sertl listed. Regardless of whatever did or didn’t get lost in Google Translation, box scores are pretty clear in any language.

Eric Hornick pointed this out on his blog last night, and I’ll leave it to him to ask the pertinent question:

Rick DiPietro denied a report by a German newspaper that he was injured in a text to the Post’s Brett Cyrgalis.

Perhaps it is time for the follow-up question: why are you not playing?

Also, a follow up; why are you not on the bench?

We don’t have RDP’s phone number so readers, if any of you do, please send him a text for us.
