MSG Postpones Isles/Rangers Charity Game Set for This Saturday
Quietly, Madison Square Garden has postponed the Rivals for Relief charity hockey game between Isles and Rangers legends that would have teamed them up with the NYPD and FDNY to benefit Hurricane Sandy victims. The event page on MSG.com reads as follows:
Please be advised that the Rivals for Relief hockey game scheduled to take place at Madison Square Garden on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 7:30 pm has been postponed. The new date will be announced shortly.
Please hold onto your original tickets, as tickets for the December 22, 2012 event will be honored for the new date. Your original tickets will not need to be exchanged.
An event that was lightly promoted and scheduled three days before Christmas — not to mention in the middle of a lockout — likely wasn’t much of a draw. Come to think of it, Legends’ games are usually held prior to the real thing, part of the way teams pack the stands for them. It was a nice thought and for a great cause but unfortunately it seems as though this idea has fallen flat. We’ve reached out to MSG for comment.
