The Islanders winger takes a four year deal in Colorado to join the Avs at an average of $4 million per year. As had been discussed for quite some time, Parenteau tried the market on July 1st and the late-blooming 27-year old cashed in. The Islanders were not expected to offer that kind of money to PA, and in the end that was the case.

Joe sakic called PA Parenteau personally. They were 1st call. Avalanche wanted him bad and he felt that way.
