Practice Report — January 18th, Visnovsky Suspension Clears Room For New Addition

Kevin Schultz

The Islanders have officially suspended Lubomir Visnovsky, clearing a roster spot for a new addition today. Rumors are swirling about grabbing Tim Connolly off waivers or signing the newly free Scott Gomez, but nothing is confirmed at this moment… Keith Aucoin skated with the Islanders today after being picked up on waivers yesterday. He skated on the fourth line, splitting time with Marty Reasoner. Capuano said that he’s “seen a lot of Keith Aucoin over the years,” as they’ve both met numerous times in the AHL. He also noted that Aucoin can play in a lot of different situations, especially special teams… Capuano said that “it is still to be determined” if the Islanders have any callups/send downs to do before tomorrow night… He wouldn’t make any calls on the goaltending but said “when a guy’s playing well, it’s going to be tough to change during a shortened season,” but he acknowledged that switching is going to be something they may have to do often given the condensed schedule…
