SGI is sort of the Saskatchewan version of the Department of Motor Vehicles, as they process motor vehicle registrations and sell public car insurance. Back in the 80s, they enlisted the help of Clark Gillies and Bryan Trottier, both Saskatchewan natives, to make a series of safe driving commercials. And because everything makes it onto the internet eventually, well, here we are.
Two of the commercials feature the pair of Islanders checking a giant ice skating bear, which I guess is or was SGI’s mascot. Somewhat inexplicably, the third ad takes place on a baseball field, so if you’ve ever wanted to see Clark Gillies play second base, here you go:
