Wasting no time at all, Islanders captain Mark Streit and defender Lubomir Visnovsky signed with European clubs over the weekend. They’ll be over there while the lockout is going on, and back here if the season does start back up.
Streit signed with Bern, a team in the Swiss league. Streit spent five seasons with Zurich in the same league prior to playing for the Canadiens in 2005-06.
Visnovsky continues an eventful summer with a trip back home to Slovakia. A change in the KHL rules for singing locked out players allowed the KHL club Bratislava to sign Visnovsky. He had previously played for Bratislava during the 2004 lockout and prior to coming to North America in 1999.
