THE PRESEASON SCHEDULE BEGINSSaskatoon gets 'A' group…Travis Hamonic injured
11:25 am, NVMC: Travis Hamonic just appeared to suffer an upper-body injury, possibly to a shoulder, at practice. Working with the “Philadelphia” group after already skating with the first group on ice at camp today, Hamonic got tangled with a teammate in a drill and crashed into the boards behind Dwayne Roloson’s goal. After spending five minutes on the bench being attended to by Nates Gato, Hamonic left the ice and went to the trainer’s room.
On a positive note, Frans Nielsen is practicing with the second group.
Joining the Islanders for his first day as a camp invitee, Manny Legace is tending the net opposite from Roloson and is working with goalie coach Mike Dunham.
“Philadelphia” Group
Moulson - Nielsen - Kolanos
Hilbert - Hisey – Sim
Haley – Romano – Joensuu
DiBenedetto - Marcinko – Yablonski

10:15 am: Looks like the Islanders are sending their A group to Saskatoon.
The first team on the ice at the Coliseum is the same one on first today, and they’re scheduled to fly to Saskatchewan early this afternoon. Garth Snow was already on the record with a Saskatoon reporter that Rick DiPietro would make his return to NHL game action there. Expect a minor change or two, but this should be close to what the Islanders’ lineup will look like when they travel to play the Flames:
“Saskatoon” Group
Comeau – Tavares – Parenteau
Bailey – Schremp – Niederreiter
Martin – Ullstrom – Hunter
Gillies – Konopka – Rakhshani
MacDonald – Martinek
Eaton – Wisniewski
de Haan – Jurcina
Hamonic
DiPietro
Koskinen
Notes: No announcement or sourced report yet on Kyle Okposo. This is likely not a Mark Streit scenario, but I can’t say I’m loving the body language around camp this morning. Comments.
