10:16 am – From the site that yesterday brought you “Don’t Wait For Josh Bailey,” presents this 24 hours later:
Josh Bailey is probably playing today for the New York Islanders when they host Philadelphia in a Veterans Day matinee at the Coliseum.
Looks like Mike Comrie’s surgically-repaired hip may need a game or two of rest, so the Islanders will use the opening at center as an opportunity to take an NHL look at Bailey, the ninth overall pick in the 2008 draft.
We wrote in this space yesterday that Bailey, if at all, might get a game or two before the Islanders – appropriately – return him to Windsor of the Ontario Hockey League and a possible spot on Team Canada at the WJC. Comrie’s hip check-up with the medical staff appears to have changed that. Now it’s on Bailey to prove whether he deserves a longer look.
The bottom line is that if you wanted to see the NHL debut of the Islanders’ first round pick, it seems safe to acquire your tickets for today’s game.
