Adam Pelech Inks Three-Year Deal

The Islanders announced tonight that they have agreed to a three-year entry-level deal with defender Adam Pelech. Pelech was originally a third round pick in 2012.

This year for the Erie Otters of the OHL, Pelech has 9 goals and 54 points in 59 games and is +49. Erie is the second-best team in the OHL this year, behind only Guelph in points.

Great, he signs a 3 year deal, and after that he signs a 2 year deal and only then he MAY be ready for the NHL.

Has anyone told him that Connor McDavid doesn't get to come along too?

@Macacawitz  we won't have a shot at McDavid, and if we do, it will suck that we had to finish yet another long season in last place. And thst if we give our first rounder to the Sabres this year/

@camb33 He didn't have much of a choice as he was a draft choice, NOT a free agent!

@Jeff Roland  Hes not an overager. You can play in OHL until you're 21 (which is considered an overager). For the vast majority of 19 year old D this is right where they need to be to develop. I think there's 4 19 year olds and 1 18 year old that are playing regular minutes on D for their clubs. And all of them are 1st round picks. So are you saying that Pelech is a bad player because hes not one of the 5 teenage D in the NHL?
