Afternoon Notes: Vanek Skating, Kabanov to Bridge

Earlier today, Thomas Vanek skated at the Coliseum. The good news is that he’s back on the ice but the bad news is that he didn’t skate with the team, which would imply that he still may need a few more days before getting back into games.

John Tavares also did not skate today, but that could be a rest day after he took a hard spill last night against Nashville (he did stay in and finish the game). Coach Capuano didn’t comment on whether either player would be available for Thursday.

In other news, Bridgeport is pretty banged up. Mike Fornbaio has the entire round up of bumps and bruises. It  includes Andrey Pedan and Johan Sundstrom. Both are likely to miss this weekend’s action but he seems optimistic that it won’t be longer than that.

Bridgeport also made a few personnel moves today. Kirill Kabanov was called up last night, while Jason Clark was sent down to Stockton along with Greg Miller. Clark had been playing on Bridgeport’s fourth line, which would be the definition of sending a guy down to get more playing time.

Also added to Bridgeport are Sean Liles and Chris Langkow on tryout contracts. Both had been playing in the ECHL this season and have played for Bridgeport on tryouts in the past.
