Heat needs to be placed on Wang.  Either to sell or clean house. this last offseason was horrible for Snow Nino and Moulson trades where terrible. However I still believe he has a mandate to keep payroll low. I believe that was the impetus to trade Moulson to begin with. They had no desire to sign Moulson at market value. And knew they didn't have a snowballs chance in hell of signing Vanek. Tavares will remain highest paid player on the team and he is underpaid.

Snow and Cappy are probably the lowest paid coach GM combo in the league. Wangs ass is tighter than a crabs now after he gave Milbury the farm and his land grab failed.

I believe a vote of no confidence is in order to save the republic.

At this point it's just history repeating itself with the Islanders. Wang waited to long to fire Milbury and now we see the same with Snow. Eight years of this is 3 years too long. And if you want to argue that the rebuild began in 2008, that's fine. 5 years in and in year 6 we will still be looking to build the foundation of that rebuild - from the net out. That's just incredibly poor and it should not be tolerated by ownership or fans.

In my dreams, I envision the owner cleaning house, hiring a president of hockey ops and allows him to do his thing. The team, the organization is a disaster and this season is a direct reflection of a lousy GM and his utter inability to run a professional franchise.

According to Bleacher Report: Here is how Garth Snows rebuild is going: Current Status: The Islanders are the only team in the Metro that is truly dead and buried. They are 14 points out of a playoff spot with 22 games remaining and lost seven of eight heading into the Olympic break.

Tavares on the Getzlaf\Perry line  at team Canada practice today.  Also on the first PP unit  with Crosby and Kunitz

Well fellow fans I haven't posted in quite sometime but as we all know not much has changed. To sum up everything a change must be made at the GM position period. This team is lost & although they don't have many horses the ones that actually can carry their own sound very deflated. We the fans have gotten to know this feeling all too well although there are still a few who tend to remain optimistic. That is their choice.I will say change in management is needed immediately prior to any trades.I've listened to the hoopla of building through the draft & then adding pieces, as u all have but lets be real now.The scouting staff is brutal. Is this on Wang or Snow? Who cares at this point. I do however remember Garth selling the fans on a rebuild after the Laviolette fiasco.What Garth said was that the ISLES were committed to building something special & not just be happy to JUST make the playoffs. All that will ask where I heard this??....SNY!!!That's right. Right here! Well other than a shortened season this team is nowhere special. I wouldn't say blow it up just yet but I will say Wang must step in & hire competent hockey personnel starting w/ the scouting staff & GM. We can all assume if this happens the entire coaching staff will be gone as well. This would be a start in the right direction. Then we can all let the professionals make the hockey decisions & go back to being fans.

Look in the mirror . What do you see? Why a minor league hockey player, of course.

@snostorm  LOL Oy vey. Exactly WHO is going to place heat on Wang? Bettman? He works for Wang and all the owners. Media?  What media? Fans? He laughs at fans and does what he wants. He'll only sell if he gets his profit price and has a willing partner and that could be years away. He's not going to clean house and Garf is GM for life. He's too loyal, too dumb to know better. Do you EVER think before you post?

@bubbamac19

Sadly, I think we might have to tolerate this GM for the foreseeable future.  Wang did not fire Milbury.  He gave him a lateral promotion which essentially was removing him from the duties of the GM but, Milbury could have stayed around and kept his fingers somewhat in the pie.  He chose to leave for that television job, and we were finally free at last from his incompetent machinations.  i believe the same scenario will apply to Snow.  Barring the slim chance that he really pisses off Wang, he's in this job for the long haul...

The best we can hope for,,, and something Snow must do,,, is change the coach.  At least that will be a start, and a move in the right direction...

@David Rosenthal

And we "don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows"...  Someone else in that hierarchy could probably use a weatherman to point out what's wrong but, he's too busy resembling an ostrich to notice what's wrong.  It would appear he's going to bury his head in the sand until the moving vans come to take him away to Brooklyn...

@dinbigd  there are some nights when the clutterbuck trade looks ok, and then there are nights when nn scores the game winner and is the #1 star.  nn is projecting to around 15 goals this year.  not great.  but he's just starting his career, and if in a couple of years 15 turn into 25 (not all that hard to imagine) the trade looks much worse.  i'd have kept nn for a couple of seasons, tried to work out the issues, and if he had to be traded, hopefully it would have been after putting up legit numbers and therefore being worth more.

the vanek/moulson deal imo is bad not so much for not re-signing him, which isn't up to the islanders alone, but for the good picks traded away.  it's not just moulson (that they weren't going to keep anyway) for vanek (who isn't going to stay anyway).  it's this lousy habit of overpaying.

and i agree that if you identify your needs as a strong d-man and a #1 goalie, you set your sights first of all on how to get those specific pieces.  that's how a rebuild should be done.  snow seems to be laying down bets here and there without keeping the right master plan in view.

@dinbigd A quick editorial review of Snow's major moves this season, starting with the draft.

06/12/2013, Mark Streit walks as an FA. Not a ton of trade value as a rental, Streit wanted a big contract, not terrible.

06/30/2013 Islanders ship Nino Niederrieter for Cal Clutterbuck and a 3rd round pick. Woah there. The Isles managed to turn a fairly promising prospect (5th overall pick, 2nd in points in Bridgeport in his last season) into Cal Cutterbuck and a 3rd round pick. It's impressive how bad that asset management is.

09/10/2013 Brad Boyes finally gets signed by Florida. Brad Boyes was and OK hockey player, his totals were OK but he doesn't contribute much on D. Not a terrible move, but I would've rather have him over PMB, who signed for more and was packaged halfway through the season for a 4th round pick

10/27/2013 Thomas Vanek joins for a 1st, 2nd and Matt Moulson. It's unfair to judge this solely based on the struggle to re-sign him. So rather, it's better to focus on the fact that the Isles traded for a guy with practically identical offensive totals, plus a 1st and 2nd round pick. It's already bad, not considering that Matt Moulson was (for all intents and purposes) a homegrown player enjoying himself on Long Island. This might have made him easier to sign.

CONTRACT EXTENSIONS

jfc Snow has handed out a few idiotic contracts\

Josh Bailey for 3,300,000 over 5 years. Josh Bailey has never broken the 20 goal mark in his 6 NHL seasons, it doesn't look like he will this year either. His only redeeming feature are his corsi numbers, which paint him as a solid defensive player, but that doesn't make him worth 16,500,000 dollars.

Cal Clutterbuck for 2,750,000 over 4 years. Not wanting to be outdone by the trade that got him in it's sheer ridiculousness, the Islanders gave a 4 year contact for a player who would be featured exclusively on the bottom six for the whole season.

Essentially Garth Snow lost assets in every trade since the draft, while giving 4 and 5 year contracts to bottom six forwards. He added nothing to a bad defense, and balked on Cory Schnieder and Jonothan Bernier when goaltending while was (and still is!) a massive issue.

@jumble @dinbigdDont forget the Bouchard Regin signings and the extensions of Strait (after 6 games lol) Carkner and Hickey...those add up especially if Snow is on a tight budget..and in whatever they are paying Martinek and there are several millions being wasted, in addition to the CC and JB jokes of contracts...Snow easily couldve picked up 2-3 players top guys/a starting goalie with what he is paying Bailey/CC alone
...PS with the Isles almost out...its time for Bailey to do his usual Comeau- like streak and put up points in garbage time to save his roster spot for next year

@jumble @dinbigd  Even if Wang wouldn't let him spend a dime, Snow really has done a terrible job with what he had. These last 2 posts are spot on.  I would like to hear a rebuttal from any Snow/Wang lovers out there.  If the owner would just spend $ on a solid goalie free agent and a good(large) stay at home defenseman I feel we have enough assets here and in Bridgeport to become a very competitive team.   If only the owner had the same passion as the people  I read on this post.   GO ISLES!

@godsaveus  what about Martin, Cizikas and Hamonic?  I know this team has a whole lot of flaws, but they do have a core.  It's really Defense and Goaltending where we lack so much.
