Video: Isles Fans Chant ‘We Want Moulson’

Tonight was Matt Moulson’s first game back at the Coliseum since the Thomas Vanek trade. The Wild won easily, 6-0, and Moulson netted two of the goals. Towards the end of the game, the fans at the Coliseum chanted for Moulson, the ex-Isle who was a fan favorite. After the final buzzer sounded, he also saluted before heading to the dressing room.

We have needed to solidify our Goaltending since the DP fiasco! We were pretty good at scoring with our forwards. Small defense, and Piss-poor goaltending has resulted in the highest goals against in the league. Our needs are as obvious as the greasy skin on Chuckie's face. This team needed a few simple fixes and it would compete quite nicely.

GOALTENDING

NHL CALIBER COACHES

GIVE ONE OR TWO OF THE 30 DEFENESMEN GARTH DRAFTED LAST YEAR A SHOT.

DID I SAY FRICKIN GOALTENDING???? Nilson is better off just spreading his body out and not moving. I swear, he has to be the worse positionally poor goalie I have ever seen! I suppose Wang's theory of "A sumo  wrestler would do just fine in goal because he is big" is blown right out of the water with this guy!

A friggin joke..no effort..its sad to see.. the fans paid actual $MONEY$ to go to the games and to watch on TV and we buy the merch... WE NEED AN UPRISING..isles fans have no advocate, the owner doesnt care...nobody cares? the players dont want to be there? they dont have that right...but they give no effort and still have jobs...please stop talking about draft picks...so 5 years from now we may have another Strome...please put this team out of its misery and let Tavares go home to Toronto...he deserves to have memorable career...not this

I really hoped that youthful enthusiasm by the rookies will produce a better game.

I believe it is the coaching staff not preparing the team or they just decided to tank. Either way, does not look good.

I cheered five times tonight:

The National Anthem, the two wounded warriors and Moulson's two goals.

@shlo Hey but it looks good for the 2nd overall pick. Sorry to say Buffalo just way too awful to catch.

@rmreturns  We've been reduced to cheering for Montreal wins, just for a second round pick? Wow just when you thought we couldn't get any lower. The future looks great

@rmreturns hahahahahahahaahaha yes let's bring Bridgeport to LI, while other teams prepare for the playoffs, what else is new around here.

tag1
tag1

@Vicp73  It seems like every year we have debates on here whether we should root for the Isles to lose so we move up in the draft, how long is this going to go on for?

@dkdk

Bailey must have a loafing clause in his contract, granted to him by the nit wit snow.

tag1

@Vicp73 @tag1 Well almost everyone I guess Vic, it's getting late good night.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@tag1  Tag everyone in the hockey world knows Garth is a total idiot, believe me

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns  No those terms describe someone who does not belong in the position they are in and doesn't act with professionalism, he proved it with the Vanek contract leak and he proved it with his Moulson comments after he traded him. The guy was never qualified for that position and the only reason he has it is because our owner is a nut job.

@rmreturns @dkdk

Why, it didn't matter when he got hurt, they still sucked mightily with him in the lineup, they are about the same winning/losing percentage since he did get hurt.

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns  No he got pissed at what Moulson asked for and traded him during his hissy fit.

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns  Wrong D and goaltending go hand in hand and the topic on here is the NY Islanders.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@rmreturns @tag1  In Lou we trust, That's what all Devil fans have been saying over the years

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns @tag1  What ?????? my point is there should have been a effort to deal with him and there was none, snow acted like a scorned lover.

tag1
tag1

@Vicp73 @rmreturns Once again Vic that's the $64,000 question, and leaking it was a scum--- move by snow.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@rmreturns @Vicp73  OK if we all knew Vanek wasn't doing rebuilds and was going to FA status why bother making that trade

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns @tag1  What's off topic that the whole back end is a disaster this season?

Sam Sam
Sam Sam

@dkdk   If that does occur, (part of me actually hopes for that scenario) then at that point you just have to break off any allegiance to this team and start with a clean slate.  Like a break up.  It's over.

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns The majority is on the goaltending but the D is also weak.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@rmreturns @tag1  No RM, not everyone was in need of a goalie. The teams that were Tampa, T.O and Jersey all did something about it

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns Not every team in the league was desperate for a goalie, you don't seem to get that, the Devils were and because Lou is a much much better GM than snow they got one.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@dkdk  Dude that poor guy bleed Islander blue, it's a shame

tag1
tag1

@dkdk The only thing that disappointed me was he didn't get the hat trick.

dkdk
dkdk

And for that I am thankful! Glad to see the way Matty was treated. He deserved it. And I think it speaks well of the true fans.

tag1
tag1

@dkdk At least you weren't there in person

tag1
tag1

@dkdk There didn't seem to be any kind of effort to negotiate with Moulson he was just shipped out.

dkdk
dkdk

Tag .... Watching Bailey is getting me physically sick now.

dkdk
dkdk

Money talks .... It didn't for Vanek evidently. And when the perception was Moulson may want some a foot met his arse pretty quickly.

tag1
tag1

@dkdk Speaking of no accountability I was watching Bailey tonight just floating around on the ice, not a care in the world.

dkdk
dkdk

Tag ,... And that goes back to the no accountability aspect that is so pervasive here. Snow has no job loss threat so he brings in who he wants and the status quo rolls full bore.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@dkdk  Halak would be solid, but i don't see him playing behind the worse D in hockey. I'll bet the farm it's a Nabby extension

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns "They have enough defenders"

They might have enough but how good is the question right now the Isles have the worst goals against in the league and that's not all on the goaltending.

dkdk
dkdk

It takes 2 to dance. We can offer Ryan miller 8 mil per, but if a good team, especially out west offers 6 he probably won't come.

The good old cap floor, the only bastion of a the semblance of an NHL squad. Maybe we could always take on Tim Thomas's sofa again. That was my favorite floor circumvention to date.

tag1
tag1

@dkdk There are ex Isles goalies who are or who have coached all over the league and you're right we get snow's buddies here to coach our guys.

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns  You're critical of the Isles goaltending situation but then you go on to make excuses for snow on why he couldn't get a goalie, stop making excuses for him, that's his job to address weaknesses and he clearly didn't along with the back end but he was able to go out and get a player that the whole league knew was going to free agency.

dkdk
dkdk

Vic .... I am already smelling a push for Elliott or halak. And if they get priced out maybe Nabby is back. And short of miller or hiller and neither are coming here, there is no clear cut upgrade that I can see. Even on the trade market. I sure wouldn't want to bank on say cam ward.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@dkdk  One problem, there's no goalies out there!!! Miller and Hiller will not play here, unless your looking at Elliott or Dubnyk this team is screwed

dkdk
dkdk

Rm ... I am not saying Smitty was a great goalie coach but neither is Dunham. And I would rather have a legend around the kids. All we have around them are snow/weights cronies. This whole New England country club vibe ran its course long ago.

dkdk
dkdk

Rm ... The one thing I will give you credit for is you have been critical of the tending for quite awhile. But that leads to the question of what makes this summer different? Why do we get a goalie this year when didn't last year when more were attainable?

Vicp73
Vicp73

@rmreturns @Vicp73  Very easy, Strome isn't what he's been proped out to be, and Griffin who the hell knows. Let's see him play in the NHL first

dkdk
dkdk

Tag .... Great way to look at it. Then again didn't he kind of replace Smitty with Dunham?

Vicp73
Vicp73

@tag1 @dkdk  It was such a simple fix, get a F"n goalie !! Snow even F'ed that up

tag1
tag1

@dkdk You would think that since snow was a bad goalie he should know the importance of having a good goalie but I guess not.

dkdk
dkdk

Rm .... One word goaltending. That word never seems to reach snow now does it?

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns  Unless your offense is really good you can't win in this league with the goal tending the Isles got during last seasons playoffs and yet the GM sat on his hands and did nothing during the off season and like I said before goalies were available and moved so I don't want to hear snow couldn't make a deal maybe he didn't make a deal because he is inept, incompetent and in over his head.

dkdk
dkdk

Rm.... As with most years our season was essentially over at Christmas. JT was using games in January as a pre Olympics camp.

dkdk
dkdk

And Colorado turned over the front office and coaching staff and look at what is going on there. To a lesser extent same with Columbus.

Kind of ironic that Detroit is having it's worse season in what 21-22 years and we had a very similar season last year and that reached the snow high water mark.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@dkdk  And people say coaching changes don't do wonders. Philly and Winnipeg are great examples

dkdk
dkdk

Dead on Vic .... This conference is really weak.. Even look at the flyers, they looked done in November and now probably are the 3rd best team in the east.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@dkdk  And the sad thing is, this was the season for Garth to build on last season's success, A weak Eastern conference, only Boston or Pitt being a threat, some lucky bounces and hey you can find yourself in the second or third round. A new Coaching staff  a (Cory Schneider) and a solid addition to the blueline who knows

tag1
tag1

@dkdk wash rinse repeat the motto of the NY Islanders.

dkdk
dkdk

The same place all those dmen were when he needed to claim 4 off of waivers last year.

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns   We've been drafting near the top of the draft for years now where was all that depth when we needed it this season? Where are all those goalie draft picks that were supposed to be so good?

dkdk
dkdk

Rm all snow has done is oversee failure what makes you think what he did at the deadline or will do this summer or next matter?

And let state something I was not looking forward to 2015 UNTIL SNOW FORCED ME TO. You possibly put McDavid into the equation and me, you, and everyone else should be extremely worried. The decision on which pick (probably both lottery picks) is as critical as any made since JT.

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns @tag1 Just this year?? Where have the Isles finished in the standings every year since snow has been GM?? It's not just this year.

dkdk
dkdk

I saw one hot one that the two of you were involved with on my phone while I was at a wedding. I had a couple for you guys.

tag1
tag1

@dkdk I've had some discussions with some space cadets on here the past few days that leaves my head spinning.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@dkdk  Possibly the next Sid, but hey at least we got Colburg

dkdk
dkdk

And what is sadder is if we keep this pick and say draft whatever 4th-5th and forfeit next year and it does become McDavid there will still be some defending this regime. They are more pathetic than snow.

tag1
tag1

@dkdk Yes the most exciting part of our season once again will be what goes on OFF THE ICE.

dkdk
dkdk

But TAG this year is the added excitement of playing Russian Roulleete with Connor McDavid's Spector.

Vicp73
Vicp73

@tag1  As long as Charles in charge does nothing, it's perennial bottom feeding

willymayshays
willymayshays

@rmreturns @willymayshays

I like those guys!!

But the weaknesses were obvious and nothing was done to plug those holes!!!  Nothing, unless you count resigning Nabby.  The oportunities were there!

PS. don't you want to trade Frans?  I guessing because Snow is soooo good with that sort of thing

tag1
tag1

@willymayshays I think this season pretty much proves that last season was a fluke.

willymayshays
willymayshays

@tag1 @rmreturns

It would excite me if it wasn't perpetual!

The Islanders made he playoffs last yr but yet do nothing to improve.  They actually do NOTHING.  And so yet again, we are a joke.  LITERALLY  It's a re... forget the build.  Mediocrity is OK!!!!!

tag1
tag1

@rmreturns @tag1 My point is when is this organization going to start to compete on the next level instead of playing out the string with kids AGAIN, sorry, watching kids play year after year doesn't excite me like playoff hockey but people like you won't have a problem if they don't win a playoff series for another 20 years.

willymayshays
willymayshays

@rmreturns @tag1

What you're saying is that this team has lousy depth.  BUT it's prob better that way because with Reasoner or Regin on the team, that JOKE of a coach would have Sundtorm watching the game right next to Dono
